WASHINGTON –– With two regular season games remaining, American University women's basketball will head to Boston to square off with Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 28. The Eagles and the Terriers will take to the hardwood in "The Roof" early, with tipoff set for 11:30 am ET on ESPN+.

Series History
- In a series dating back to 1981, the Eagles hold onto an 18-13 series lead over the Boston U. Terriers. On the road in Case Gym, the Terriers have the home court, 9-5, advantage over American.
- Over a stretch of the last five games, American has won two of those, including most recently in Bender Arena on Jan. 3 in Bender Arena, a 53-45 decision that went the Eagles' way.
- In that January contest, the second period saw AU outscore Boston University 22-4. This dominant quarter propelled the Eagles to the win, as Boston outscored them in the second half, and in the first period.
- Molly Driscoll led all players with 15 points, and Madisyn Moore-Nicholson was a key player on both ends of the court for, leading the squad in rebounds (10) and 11 points, which gave the guard her first collegiate double-double.
- Ellie Pingree, with nine points and eight rebounds, also had a career-high 3 blocks.
- It's been a point of contention all season, but against the Terriers, American did well in points in the paint, scoring 20, and led the Terriers in bench points, 21-13, and points off turnovers, 20-5.
- The Terriers has a much more balanced approach to scoring, nine players on their roster in scoring position, led by Anete Adler with 12 points.
Tipping Off
- American will be looking to complete the series sweep over Boston, something the squad hasn't accomplished since the 2019 regular season. The Eagles are riding a six-game loss streak after falling 56-41 to Lafayette in Bender on Saturday afternoon.
- The Leopards took control of the game in the first frame on a starting run, leading 12-2 midway through the first, and despite the American University women's basketball team closing in a few times, it wouldn't be enough to overcome the deficit.
- Sophomore guards Madisyn Moore-Nicholson and Molly Driscoll were the offensive high points for American against the Leopards, each tallying nine points.
- Freshman Charlotte Tuhy, with her 12 rebounds, led all players from both teams.
- American was outshot, Lafayette finishing shooting 36.2 percent from the floor overall to AU's 27.3 percent.
- The Eagles' 19 turnovers led to 21 points for the Leopards, and points in the paint–which helped the Eagles succeed in their win against Lafayette earlier this season, trended toward the visitors: AU picked up 14 points in the paint to Lafayette's 22.
- With her 12.3 ppg average, the Eagles are led offensively this season by Driscoll; the sophomore is 13th in the league in scoring. She's topped AU in coring a team-leading 10 times and with a three-point average of .326, has made 44 three pointers this season.
- Tuhy, with her season total rebounds at 288, is now second all-time at AU for rebounds in a single season with two regular season games remaining. The record of 304 was set back during the 1997-98 season by Mary Klima; Tuhy is 16 rebounds back from matching and 17 from breaking that record.
- Tuhy leads the team and is 13th in the NCAA in rebounding, with her 10.7 rpg average; she's averaging a double-double on the season, picking up 10.7 ppg as well.
- Moore-Nicholson is the third Eagle averaging in double-digit scoring this season, the sophomore averaging 10.4 ppg. She has led the team in scoring eight times across the season and picked up two 20+ scoring games and a double-double along the way.
- The Eagles are eighth in offense and 10th in the Patriot League in defense, scoring an average of 54.6 ppg and allowing an average of 66.0 ppg. Boston is ahead of American, sixth in the league in both scoring offense (57.6 ppg) in defense (60.5 ppg); Both teams, though, are in a scoring margin deficit, Boston at -3.0 and AU at -11.3.
- American is ninth in the Patriot League in field goal percentage (.359) and opponent field goal percentage (.429). In contrast, the Terriers are leading the league from the field, averaging .438 and are ranked fourth in the league in limiting opponent field goal percentage (.389).
- AU ranks fourth in the league in rebounding with its 33.6 combined rebounding average.
Scouting the Terriers
- In the last three games, the Terriers picked up two wins against Bucknell and Colgate on the road before falling to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at home on Saturday (76-61). The Terriers have one more conference win than the Eagles, holding a 5-11 record.
- Against the Mountain Hawks, BU did not hold a lead through the contest as the Mountain Hawks drained 13 three-pointers and shot nearly 52 percent from the field; they home squad also allowed an opponent to shoot over 50 percent for the first time since Nov. 26 against Bryant.
- Senior forward Anete Adler made 12 shots–matching her career high from Jan. 21 at Lafayette–on just 16 attempts, to finish with 24 points. Sophomore Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir scored nine points while senior Anastasiia Semenova scored eight. Adler eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the fifth time this season and sixth time in her career.
- BU shot 26-for-55 (47.3 percent) in the game, with three of its four three-pointers coming in the final quarter. Rebounds favored the Terriers, 30-26. Adler and Semenova each snagged seven caroms. The Terriers also outscored Lehigh in the paint, 42-32.
- Adler has the second highest field goal percentage of all players in the league (.498) and is eighth in the Patriot League in scoring average, picking up 13.9 ppg, while being ninth in the league in rebounding, collecting an average of 6.1 boards per game. Adler also leads the league in blocked shots (36).
- As a team, the Terriers are third in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.336) and are sixth in the league with 158 made three-pointers on the season.
- The Terriers are sixth in the league in combined team rebounds with 33.1 per game and limit opponents to an average of 31.9 ppg.
