WASHINGTON –– For the final home game of the regular season, the Eagles of American University women's basketball are playing host to the visiting Lafayette Leopards on Saturday, Feb. 21. First tip from Bender Arena is set for 12 p.m. ET on ESPN+, but fans should be sure to arrive early to catch the pregame Senior Day Ceremony.

Series History
- The series between the Leopards and the Eagles dates to 1982 and heavily favors American with a 48-17 record. In Bender Arena, the Eagles hold a 29-3 lead over the Leopards. Earlier this season, the Eagles took a 70-60 win over Lafayette in Easton.
- In that game, Molly Driscoll led American; the sophomore guard tapped out with 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting. She also grabbed five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block.
- Grace Koepke saw season-highs in points (19) and rebounds (seven) and picked up a career-high three assists. Her 19 points were two shy of her career high. Laura Nogues with her season-high nine points on 4-of-6 shooting was another offensive hot spot for AU. Nogues picked up five assists, and two steals.
- Charlotte Tuhy led on the glass again, topping all players on both teams with 15 rebounds to pair with her nine points.
- Bench points, one of the sources of AU's struggles this season, saw the Eagles tally up 32 points from nonstarters. Leading LAF with its 14. Another upgraded stat was AU's points in the paint; the team scored 16 against Loyola on Wednesday and improved to 36.
- Teresa Kiewiet and Haylie Adamski were the top performers for Lafayette, finishing the afternoon with 16 and 15 points respectively.
Tipping Off
- The Eagles need a win against Lafayette; the Eagles are ninth in the PL at 4-11 in league play while the Leopards are 5-10, sitting at seventh in the PL. The AU squad is on a five-game loss streak after falling 58-45 to Bucknell in Bender Arena on Wednesday evening. The Eagles have had a difficult run, playing three of the League's top four teams on this five game docket (No. 1 Navy, No. 2 Army, No. 4 Lehigh).
- American went into the locker room break up three (23-20) over Bucknell, but a 21-point third period helped lift the visitors over AU; the Bison shot 53 percent in the third while AU shot 30 percent from the floor and picked up just 11 points.
- Freshman forward Charlotte Tuhy finished the first half with 11 points and six rebounds before going on to finish with 17 points and 10 boards for the 12th double-double of the season. Her average of 10.6 rpg is currently 14th in the NCAA and paired with her 10.9 ppg, Tuhy is averaging a double-double. With her 28 treys this season is shooting .329 from distance.
- Tuhy, with 276 total rebounds on the season, is now second all-time at AU for rebounds in a single season and, with three games remaining in the regular season, is 28 back from the record of 304 that was set by Mary Klima in the 1997-98 season.
- Against the Bison, Molly Driscoll was the second highest points earner for AU with 11; the sophomore picked led AU with three assists and two steals. On the season, Driscoll leads the squad and 13th in the league in scoring with an average of 12.4 ppg. She's topped the squad in scoring a team-leading nine times and with a three-point average of .320, has 41 made threes this season.
- Madisyn Moore-Nicholson is the third and final Eagle averaging in double-digits this season, the sophomore guard averaging 10.4 ppg. Moore-Nicholson has led the team in scoring seven times across the season and picked up two 20+ scoring games and a double-double along the way.
- The Eagles are eighth in offense and 10th in the Patriot League in defense, scoring an average of 55.2 ppg and allowing an average of 66.3 ppg. Lafayette is ahead of American, fifth in the league, in scoring offense (59.5 ppg) and seventh in the league in defense (64.0 ppg); Both teams, though, are in a scoring margin deficit, Bucknell at -4.6 and AU at -11.2.
- American is ninth in the Patriot League in field goal percentage (.362) and opponent field goal percentage (.431). In contrast, the Bison are seventh in the league from the field, averaging .387 and are ranked fifth in the league in limiting opponent field goal percentage (.392).
- AU ranks fourth in the league in rebounding with its 33.4 combined rebounding average and ranks in the middle of the league in three-pointers made (155). Lafayette is second in the Patriot League with 196 triples made this season.
Scouting the Leopards
- The Leopards are also searching for a win as the season winds down, having picked up just one win over the last six contests. The win was over No. 4 ranked Lehigh (73-59), in Kirby on Valentine's Day. The Leopards, at 5-10 in league play are currently seventh.
- Most recently, Lafayette took on Holy Cross at home and fell in a low-scoring, 53-44, affair to the Crusaders. Holy Cross jumped out to a 19-11 lead through one and then matched pace with Lafayette through the rest of the game, outscoring them by just one in the remaining three periods for the victory.
- Teresa Kiewiet notched her second double-double of the 2025-26 campaign with a 14-point, 10-rebound effort. She was the only Leopard to score in double-digits on the outing. Kiewiet leads the Leopards and is third in the Patriot League in scoring, averaging 15.8 ppg across the season. Her .432 field goal percentage is fourth in the league.
- Kiewiet is second on her squad, and is 10th in the PL in rebounding, as well. The junior grabbing an average of 5.9 boards per game. Maddison Krug, a freshman, leads the Leopards and is sixth in the conference with an average of 7.7 rpg.
- Haylie Adamski tapped out against Holy Cross with eight points, held below her average of 10.4 ppg as a freshman this season. So did Talia Zurinskas, who picked up just four points against HC when, on the season, she's been averaging 10.5 ppg. A fourth Leopard, Sauda Ntaconayigize, is also averaging in double digits, hitting 10.0 ppg clean this season.
- Three Leopards are in the top eight in the league in three-point field goal percentage. Ntaconayigize is fourth with a .395 percentage and 45 made triples this season. Adamski has 62 made three pointers and shoots .390 percent. Kiewiet, with her 34 made threes, holds a .378 three-point field-goal percentage.
- As a team, the Leopards lead the league in three-point field goal percentage (.349); however, they're last in the league in opponent three-point field goal percentage (.351).
- The Leopards, despite being in the top half of the league offensively, tallying an average of 59.5 ppg, are in the bottom half defensively, allowing opponents an average of 64.0 ppg for a scoring deficit. They are seventh in the league in rebounding (32.8 rpg) and 10th in combined opponent rebounds (40.7). The Eagles will look to take advantage on the glass.
