Series History
- The series between the Leopards and the Eagles dates back to 1982 and heavily favors American with a 47-17 record. Away in Kirby, AU leads Lafayette 17-11 over the 'Pards.
- Until recent years, American has been dominant over Lafayette; five of the Leopards' 11 wins in the series have come in the last three seasons, with Lafayette taking the sweep in 2024 and claiming two wins in the spring of 2025, once in the regular season at home and again in the PL First Round game, also in Easton.
- In the last game of the 2024-25 season, Molly Driscoll topped both teams with 18 points and stuffed her stat line with four rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Freshman Madisyn Moore-Nicholson had a career-high three blocks on the night.
- Lafayette had four players in double digits: Abby Antognoli (16), Teresa Kiewiet (16), Sauda Ntaconayigize (15), and Emma Shields (15). Ntaconayigize went 5-of-7 from deep, sinking half of Lafayette's three point baskets. Antognoli is the only departure from the roster for this season.
- On the boards, the Leopards won the battle 46-40.
Tipping Off
- The Eagles will be on the hunt for their second road win of the season when they head up to Easton to take on the Leopards; the squad is heading North coming off a home loss to Loyola Maryland on Wednesday. Despite being dominant in the first and third quarters, AU could not hang in the second and fourth and Loyola surged ahead to claim the 63-53 victory.
- Scoring just four points in the second and eight points in the fourth, American was twice held to single digits and a 23-3 Loyola run in the fourth ultimately sank AU. Most Loyola's points came from down low, the visiting squad scoring 46 in the paint. They also capitalized on AU's 11 turnovers and used them to snag 23 points.
- Molly Driscoll ended the first half on 13 points and by the final buzzer had totaled 20 to lead all players on the court. She was on fire offensively, collecting her points on 6-of-12 shooting while also adding four assists and four rebounds. She was held from scoring in the fourth quarter.
- Charlotte Tuhy, the reigning PL Rookie of the Week, struggled to get started offensively but tallied 10 rebounds for the Eagles. Madisyn Moore-Nicholson capped out at 11 points and went 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
- Driscoll is AU's leading scorer, averaging 12.7 ppg. The sophomore guard has four 20+ point games on the season, most recently dropping 20 points against Army (Jan. 17) and Loyola Maryland (Jan. 28). Twice this season, Driscoll has had games where she scored five three pointers in a single game; against Loyola, she shot 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. She has 34 made threes on the season.
- Leading the Eagles on the boards this season, and second on the team in scoring, is Charlotte Tuhy. The freshman forward is averaging a double-double with 11.3 ppg and a league-leading 10.8 rpg. Tuhy is ranked 14th in the NCAA in rebounding and leads the Eagles in field goal percentage, shooting 43.4 percent from the field.
- Tuhy, with her 216 rebounds this season, is tied for eighth most in a single season by an Eagle.
- Against the Leopards, the only other Eagle in double-digits was Madisyn Moore-Nicholson. The sophomore guard capped out at 11 points and shot 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
- Moore-Nicholson is American's third and final player averaging in double-digit scoring this season, tallying 10.9 ppg. She's notched three 20+ point games this season and has led the team in scoring five times this season, including twice in Patriot League play.
- American has struggled all season with bench scoring all season long; having only outscored the opponent's bench six times this season, and only once has it secured the Eagles a win. Against Loyola, American tallied nine points from their bench players, all nine of which came from Anna Rescifina.
- As a team, American is averaging 55.5 points per game this season, while allowing opponents an average of 64.9; the squad is eight in the Patriot League in offense and ninth in defense. The Eagles are also in ninth place in field goal percentage, shooting 35.7 percent from the floor, and ninth in opponent field goal percentage (.430).
