Series History
  • The series between the Eagles and the dates to 2002 with AU holding a dominant 34-12 lead in the head-to-head battle, including one win already this season on Jan. 7 in Bender Arena, an overtime 59-56 decision.
  • In Hamiliton, American holds a 17-7 lead over the Raiders; despite this, Colgate have won four of the last five contests held between the two programs on Cotterell Court.
  • Between 2007 and 2020 American was on a 26-game win streak over the Raiders, but over the past ten games, the Eagles have four wins, and in the last five, AU has picked up two wins.
  • In the most recent matchup in Bender, two weeks prior to this upcoming contest, American was led Charlotte Tuhy with 17 points and 22 rebounds. She had over half of AU's 40 rebounds in the game. Madisyn Moore-Nicholson had an impressive outing 16 points in that same game.
  • Colgate's Ella Meabon and Taye Matthews were in double digits for Colgate with their 20 and 17 points respectively. Matthews was on 8-for-13 shooting on the night. Madison Schiller led on the boards with 10.
Tipping Off
  • The Eagles, who were on a two-game loss streak but a three game home-win streak, were toppled by Army on Saturday, Jan. 17. The Eagles were ahead 27-26 at halftime, but a big showing in the third period for West Point was what kept them afloat despite a push from American to reduce the deficit from 17 to two in the middle of the fourth. Turnovers at the start of both halves led to significant point deficits for the Eagles: 10 of the team's 14 turnovers in the game came in quarters one and three.
  • After Molly Driscoll nailed a three pointer to bring the score to 56-58, the Black Knights took control of the game from there, creating a large enough lead to survive and claim the 63-56 victory in Bender Arena.
  • For the third time this season, sophomore Driscoll hit the 20 point mark for the Eagles, scoring 20 to lead the squad. She also led the team in assists with four.
  • Freshman Charlotte Tuhy continues to show dominance on the glass and secured 12 rebounds to lead the team against West Point but was limited to just six points. The forward leads the Patriot league in rebounding with her 10.5 boards per game average. She averages a double-double with her points per game average clocking in at 10.6. She currently sits at 18th in the NCAA in rebounding. Against Colgate (Jan. 7), Tuhy tallied up 22 rebounds and 17 points and as a result, sits at second all-time at American for rebounds in a single game.
  • Driscoll leads the Eagles this season in scoring and sits at ninth in the conference with her 13.4 ppg that she collects. The sophomore guard leads the team in made three pointers (29) and shoots 31.5 percent from long range. Tuhy matches that stat, shooting 31.5 percent from three point range and teammate Madisyn Moore-Nicholson shoots 31.7 percent from distance. Both Tuhy and Moore-Nicholson have 20 made threes on the season.
  • Moore-Nicholson is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 ppg and has seen two 20+ point games this season. Until the Navy game (Jan. 14), Moore-Nicholson had been on an eight game run of scoring 10 or more in a game, starting with her 12 points scored against William & Mary (Dec. 7).
  • The Eagles this season have struggled with bench scoring. The Eagles have only outscored their opponents' bench three times, and only once did they manage it and secure a win. When it comes to rebounding, despite Tuhy's heroic efforts, the Eagles have only outrebounded their opponents once this season.
  • As a team, the Eagles are averaging 56.1 points per game this season while allowing opponents an average of 66.1 ppg. Despite their efficiency from three point range against Navy this past week when the squad shot 11-for-22 from distance, the Eagles are only shooting 27.6 percent from three on the season.
Scouting the Raiders
  • The Raiders, after opening the Patriot League with a win over Lafayette at home on New Year's Eve, have yet to win a game in 2026, on a five-game loss streak in the Patriot League.
  • Most recently, Colgate took on Bucknell on the road in Lewisburg, Pa. and fell in a hotly contested 46-43 decision after scoring just two points in the final quarter when the squad went just one for 15 in the final frame.
  • Senior forward Grace Klag recorded a dominant double-double for the Raiders, finishing with 12 points and 19 rebounds. She posted 10 points and 13 rebounds in the first half alone. The performance marked the first double-double of her career. She shot 60 percent from the field in the contest, going 6-for-10 from the floor.
  • Madison Schiller, Laila Hankerson, and Ella Meabon each finished with eight points apiece in the contest. Hankerson scored two of Colgate's four three point baskets of the game, the other two coming from Schiller and Ella Mahaffey.
  • Despite falling below her average against Bucknell, Meabon leads Colgate on the season with a 14.4 ppg average; she comes in at seventh in the league in scoring. She is the only Raider in the top-25 in scoring in the league. Meabon's field goal percentage of .361 has her at seventh in the league in that stat as well. She's second in the league in free throw percentage, shooting 83.3 percent from the charity stripe.
  • The squad relies on collective rebounding, and Colgate is third in the league in combined team rebounds, averaging 34.2 per game this season. The Raiders are led by Abbey Ferguson's 4.9 rpg, Meabon's 4.6 rpg, and Christina Midgette's 4.5 rpg to fuel that collective effort.
  • Last in the league in team field goal percentage, Colgate falls right behind American in ninth, shooting 35.2 percent to American's 36.2 percent; however, Colgate tops American in what the squad allows from opponents, holding their opponents to 41.2 percent while American allows opponents to shoot 43.1.
