Series History
  • In a series dating back to 1981, the Eagles hold onto a narrow, 17-13 lead over the Boston U. Terriers. At home though, in Bender Arena, American leads 13-3.
  • Most recently, Boston claimed both games in the 2024-25 series, but only by narrow margins. The first game in D.C. (Jan. 8), American fell 70-67 to the visiting Terriers and away, in Boston (Feb. 22), it was a 10-point, 82-72 victory for BU.
  • American has only won one of the previous five games against Boston.
Tipping Off
  • On Wednesday, American opened conference play against Loyola Maryland on the road in Baltimore, falling 68-59. The first half from the Greyhounds propelled them ahead, leading by as many as 23 points in the first half.
  • The Eagles found their footing in the second half, outscoring the Greyhounds 36-23 in the third and fourth period–including holding the Greyhounds to just five points in the third. It wouldn't be enough though to recover though. American is now 2-10 on the season, and 0-1 in Patriot League play.
  • Three Eagles finished in double digits: Madisyn Moore-Nicholson (21), Charlotte Tuhy (16), and Molly Driscoll (14). Moore-Nicholson's 21 point outing was a new career high for the sophomore guard, and across the past three games, she is averaging 18.3 points. She also went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, also a career high for her.
  • Lexi Salazar, an offensive highlight of the game, topped the Eagles in rebounding, capping out at six boards. Salazar, along with Driscoll, finished with four assists apiece. Driscoll led the team with three steals while Salazar and Tuhy each had two.
  • The Eagles are still struggling to find their footing in the paint, scoring just 14 to Loyola's 44 down low. They also still struggle to get points off the bench: Loyola took 17 from their reserves while American took just one point from a non-starter.
  • The Eagles shot well enough against the Greyhounds, finishing with a 35.1 percent average from the floor, but the hosts shot 59.2 percent overall, although both teams struggled from beyond the arc. American made seven threes, shooting 22.6 percent while Loyola only made four triples, shooting 26.7 percent.
  • American has three players on the season averaging 10+ points per game: Driscoll (13.7), Moore-Nicholson (11.1), and Tuhy (10.6). The trio also lead American in steals, Driscoll and Tuhy each have 11 and Moore-Nicholson has 10.
  • Tuhy, a freshman forward, is AU's leading rebounder, averaging 9.9 rebounds per game, with five double doubles on the season. Tuhy also leads in blocks with seven. She's second in the league in rebounding, behind Army's Kya Smith who averages 11.1 rpg.
  • The game against the Greyhounds saw the return of senior guard Laura Nogues, who has been out with an injury since the March of 2025.
  • Driscoll is eighth in the Patriot League in scoring with her 13.7 ppg. The sophomore guard has had two 20+ point games this year, scoring 29 points on the road at La Salle (Nov. 22) and 24 points at VCU (Dec. 16). Driscoll is seventh in the PL with 20 made three point field goals on the season already; she's shooting 32.8 percent from distance.
Scouting the Terriers
  • Boston University is riding a 4-8 record overall, and a 0-1 record in the Patriot League after losing, 77-64, to Navy on Wednesday at home in Case Gym. The Mids never trailed in the contest, breaking an early 4-4 tie with a 23-8 extended run and never let the Terriers (4-8, 0-1 PL) within single digits again.
  • Seniors Anete Adler and Anastasiia Semenova combined for 33 points with Adler dropping a season-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field while adding a game-best eight rebounds, matching her career high. Semenova's 10 points off the bench marked a season high. This is Adler's third-career 20-point outing and put her just one point shy of her career high of 24, which she dropped against American last season on Feb. 22 in Boston.
  • In the game, BU shot remarkably well, over 48 percent from the field, including 24-for-45 (53.3 percent) inside the arc. Navy made over 43 percent of its shots and sank nine three-pointers, with five coming in the first quarter.
  • Rebounds favored the Terriers, 39-30, and the Terriers outscored Navy in the paint, 42-30. The Mids, though, boasted a 30-5 edge in points off turnovers as BU surrendered 21 giveaways.
  • Adler, on the season, tops the Terriers in scoring, and is the only BU player averaging in double digits. She leads the squad and the Patriot League in blocked shots (17) and is second in rebounding (5.2 rpg). She is third in the Patriot League in field goal percentage, shooting 47.6 percent from the floor across the season.
  • Alison Schwertner and Bella Mclaughlin average 7.5 and 7.0 ppg, respectively, and Schwertner with her 5.8 rebounds per game tops the squad so far this season.
