BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the second week in a row, freshman
Sophie Dufour of American University volleyball has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. The distinction comes after she logged 42 kills over a three-match week for AU, helping the Eagles to back-to-back sweeps in the process.
Dufour had 81 attack attempts across the three contests, giving her a .444 hitting percentage while averaging 4.67 kills per set. She had her best performance in a sweep of Hampton on Wednesday, Sep. 10, hitting a scorching .700 on 15 kills. She put up another 15 against North Carolina A&T, and added five digs in another straight set victory for AU.
The rookie outside hitter from Frankfort, Kentucky leads the Patriot League with 137 total kills, and has contributed on the defensive side of the stat sheet for the Eagles as well. She's second on the team in digs with 71, and her 12 blocks are fifth on the team.
AU is back in action this Friday, Sep. 19, as the Eagles open up Patriot League play against the four-time defending champion Colgate at 6 p.m.
