SERIES HISTORY
  • The Midshipmen control the series history at 18-1, with AU's last victory over Navy coming in 2008.
  • The Eagles most recently fell to Navy in the Patriot League Quarterfinal 18-10 a year ago. Caleigh Forti made a single-season program record 21 saves to keep AU in the game, but a 4-1 fourth quarter toward Navy sealed the win for the Mids. Becca Frank had four goals and Maddy Spratt had three to lead American's attack.
SCOUTING AMERICAN (5-10, 1-7)
  • The Eagles can break a slump to end the season on a positive note, having lost six in a row after falling to BU at home last Saturday 12-5.
  • It was a defensive battle for the majority of the game against the Terriers, with both teams causing over 10 turnovers and the score at a quiet 6-3 going into the fourth quarter. American made it a one-goal game with 11 minutes remaining, but BU pulled away with a six-goal run to close the contest.
  • Forti made 15 saves for the Eagles, while Reagan Murdoch led the attacking side with a hat trick.
  • The senior goalkeeper continues to hold the Patriot League lead in saves with 159, which also marks a single-season career-high. Murdoch is having a career-best season also, leading the team with 38 goals and 45 points. She's closely followed by Spratt, who has 43 points on 26 goals and 17 assists. The senior attacker needs to find the back of the net three more times on Thursday to reach 100 career goals.
  • Jenna Walls is coming off a quality defensive performance against BU, matching three caused turnovers with three ground balls. She has a career milestone on the line as well, as the senior needs to cause one more turnover in her final game to reach 50 for her career.
  • 12 Eagles will be playing their final collegiate game on Thursday: Spratt, Walls, Forti, Ashley Smith, Alyssa Apuzzo, Juliet Kuenzler, Alyssa NillesBecca Frank, Darby Sherrod, Jaime and Kate Petronis, and Lexi Rakis
SCOUTING #21 NAVY (11-5, 6-2)
  • The Midshipmen come into Saturday's game at 11-5 overall, and 6-2 in Patriot League play. They're coming off an 18-4 routing of Lafayette, led by five goals from Mikayla Williams.
  • Locked into the three-seed in the Patriot League Tournament, Navy sits a game above Colgate and a game behind Army. Having beaten the Raiders and lost to the Black Knights, the Mids will be stagnant on the conference table no matter the results of the season's final day.
  • Navy has gone 2-5 against ranked opponents this season, but has suffered nail biting losses to #6 Florida and #17 Loyola Md. by just a goal each.
  • The Mids score the most goals per game in the Patriot League (15.75) and are led by standout freshman Alyssa Chung, who boasts 63 points on 51 goals and 12 assists. Senior Emily Messinese follows her with 60 points, and adds 43 draw controls.
  • Senior defender Alyssa Daley has been excellent at the draw this season, winning 177 (11.06 per game) to lead the Patriot League.
  • In goal, sophomore Felicia Giglio has allowed just under 11 goals per game across 16 starts. She has a strong defensive unit in front of her, led by Jaclyn Johns and Maggie DeFabio. The pair have combined for 39 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers.
