WASHINGTON - After a stellar day distributing the ball for American University lacrosse and picking up her 100th career point on Friday,
Alyssa Apuzzo has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 7-13. The Eagles fell to Bucknell 11-9, but nearly completed a second half comeback thanks to the offensive effort from Apuzzo.
Apuzzo dished out four assists, contributing three to
Reagan Murdoch's four-goal day. With AU trailing 11-5 in the third quarter, Apuzzo found Murdoch for back-to-back goals that were almost identical to get the Eagles back within striking distance. The pair connected one more time in the fourth quarter to make it a two-goal game in the final minutes, but the comeback effort fell short. Apuzzo now has 15 assists on the season, and 40 in her career.
