Series History
  • This will be the 42nd meeting between the Eagles and the Tribe, with AU holding a 27-14 advantage. At home in Bender Arena, American leads the series, 16-4. The last meeting, in December of 2016, saw the Eagles fall in a low scoring game, 48-34.
Tipping Off
  • The Eagles are coming off a narrow loss to Drexel after a strong second half on the road against Drexel on Wednesday (Dec. 3). They are now 1-6 for the season.
  • Trailing by as many as 24 points in the second half, the Eagles outscored the Dragons, 33-18, but fell just short of the win when the game came down to free throws and long-range shots.
  • Freshman Charlotte Tuhy led all players on the floor with a career-high 15 rebounds. She also led the Eagles with 12 points after a slow start offensively, having scored just two of her points in the first half. It was her fifth double-double of the season. Tuhy's 83 rebounds and 11.9 rpg average on the season are good for sixth in the NCAA.
  • Lexi Salazar, shooting 2-for-3 from three point range, tallied eight points, coming in clutch as the game came down to the wire, bringing the game within four points at its closest point.
  • Both teams allowed 12 turnovers, but Drexel earned 13 points off turnovers to AU's seven to claim an advantage there. The Dragons shot 11-of-13 at the charity stripe as well.
  • The Eagles scored 10 points in the last minute of play, but the Dragons' four points allowed them to hold AU off and clinch the win.
  • Molly Driscoll leads the Eagles in scoring, averaging 15.3 ppg this season. In the Eagles' matchup with La Salle on Nov. 22, Driscoll scored a career-high 29 points and sank five three point jumpers to also match her career high in that statistic.
Scouting the Tribe
  • William & Mary is 3-4 on the season and coming into Bender riding a two-game win streak. The Tribe triumphed over Tennessee State 64-53 on Nov. 29 and is coming off a 67-64 win at Wake Forest on Wednesday (Dec. 3).
  • The Tribe led by as many as 25 points in the game, and while the previously undefeated Wake brought the game down to three points, the visiting team William & Mary were able to hold on for the win.
  • In the win over Wake, four of William & Mary's players scored in the double digits. Junior Jana Sallman led with a season-high 17 points, also notching eight rebounds.
  • Sophomore Natalie Fox was close behind Sallman with a season-high 16 points. She earned a double -double with her 13 rebounds, exploding on the boards, pulling down well over her team-leading average of seven rebounds per game.
  • Junior Monet Dance and freshman Dynasti Pierce both scored 10 points. Dance helped secure the Tribe's victory by scoring a pair of free throws with nine seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
  • After a 14-all deadlock at the end of the first quarter, the Tribe built a strong lead with a 28-9 run over the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest outscored them 41-25 in the second half, but the Tribe's early lead kept them in control of the game.
  • Though the teams were relatively matched on turnovers, William & Mary scored 22 points off turnovers to Wake's 12.
  • The Tribe has averaged 64.9 points per game while holding their opponents to 60.9. Three players on the Tribe–Cassidy Geddes (14.7 ppg), Monet Dance (10.7 ppg), and Natalie Fox (10.4 ppg)–are averaging 10- points per game.
