Series History
  • It's been just shy of a decade since the Eagles and the Rams faced off on the hardwood. VCU holds a narrow, 13-11, series lead over American in a series dating back to 1983.
  • The Rams are on a six-game winning streak over the Eagles, taking the most recent game, in 2016 by a scoreline of 68-62.
Tipping Off
  • The Eagles make the quick turnaround trip to Richmond on Tuesday after facing off with George Washington on Sunday (Dec. 14) afternoon. The Eagles are now 1-8 on the season having dropped, 70-44, to the Revolutionaries in Foggy Bottom.
  • Madisyn Moore-Nicholson led the Eagles on the afternoon against GW. Moore-Nicholson was the only Eagle to score over 10, with 12 points. Ellie Pingree went 3-for-6 in the game for her eight points; Pingree was matched in scoring by Charlotte Tuhy.
  • For the second game in a row, AU struggled to defend down low, allowing GW to claim 38 points in the paint versus 12 for AU. The Revolutionaries bench also served them well, securing 28 bench points, outscoring AU's 12.
  • After a relatively even start to the game, the Eagles down one, 10-9, with 5:05 to play in the opening quarter, the Revs pulled ahead on a 7-0 run, before continuing to extend it throughout the contest.
  • Ellie Pingree, playing her third game back this season after injury has kept her off the court since February, was the most efficient Eagle on the hardwood, shooting 3-for-6 for her eight points, including 2-for-4 from three point range.
  • The Eagles' most efficient rebounder, Charlotte Tuhy, was shut down by the Revs last night, only managing to take down five rebounds to pair with her eight points. Despite the low count, Tuhy, along with Elizabeth Archer, led the squad with their five apiece.
  • Tuhy still leads the squad on average, pulling down an average of 10.9 rebounds a game to pair with her average of 9.7 ppg. One of the most efficient rebounders in the country, Tuhy is leading the Patriot League and is currently 12th in the NCAA in the stat.
  • Molly Driscoll, a sophomore guard, currently leads the Eagles in scoring, averaging 13.0 ppg this season. In the Eagles matchup against La Salle (Nov. 22), Driscoll scored a career-high 29 points and sank five three point jumpers to also match her career high in that statistic.
Scouting the Rams
  • After opening the season with a 3-1 record, the Rams are riding a six-game loss streak coming into Tuesday's contest. VCU, 0-1 in the Atlantic-10 conference after dropping to La Salle 70-62 to open December, are 13-of-14 in the A-10 in offense (60.3 ppg), defense (71.2 ppg), and field goal percentage (0.376).
  • Most recently, the Rams faced off with Temple in Philadelphia on Saturday, Dec. 13, dropping 88-63 to the Owls. VCU trailed 26-22 with 7:57 left in the second quarter before an 11-0 run gave Temple a 37-22 lead. The Rams were unable to recover from the deficit.
  • Katarina Kneževic had a career-high 21 points along with five rebounds. Makennah White had 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Daija Preston added 13 points along with a team-high six rebounds and six assists
  • Kneževic, who tops VCU in rebounding, averaging 4.6 boards per game, leads the Rams in scoring this season along with Mary-Anna Asare, averaging 13.1 and 17.2 points per game, respectively. Asare hasn't hit the hardwood since 11/24/25, prior to Thanksgiving, when she dropped 24 points against Texas A7M.
  • Ty Williams, a guard, is leading the Rams and is currently fifth in the league in three-point field goal percentage. The redshirt senior is shooting an average of 47.8 percent from beyond the arc. Kneževic is 11th in the league in the stat, shooting 41.0 percent on the season.
