Series History
  • In a series dating back to 1970, George Washington holds a 20-12 series lead over American. The Revolutionaries are on a four-game win streak over the Eagles, taking the most recent game in 2024 in Bender by a score of 62-47.
  • In that game, Anna Rescifina led for American in scoring and rebounding with 10 points and eight boards. Ellie Pingree scored nine in that game and pulled down six rebounds.
Tipping Off
  • The Eagles are traveling to Foggy Bottom holding a 1-7 record and after having had a week off to recover while putting the student in student-athlete and taking exams. Most recently, AU fell to William & Mary at home in Bender, 73-60, on Sunday, Dec. 7.
  • Once again, the Eagles faced a large deficit in the contest, finding themselves down by as many as 24 points, down 41-17 with four minutes to play in the second quarter. They brought it down 11 points midway through the third quarter but were unable to mount a full comeback as the game closed out.
  • Freshman forward Charlotte Tuhy once again led American defensively, closing out the night with her sixth game in double digit rebounding, with 10 boards. She picked up two assists, three steals, and two blocks to stuff her stat line. Tuhy, with her eight points, was two away from her sixth double-double in eight games.
  • Tuhy's 93 rebounds and 11.6 rpg average lead the Eagles and the Patriot League, two rebounds per game higher than Army's Kiya Smith (9.7 rpg). Her average is good for seventh in the NCAA.
  • Senior Anna Rescifina had a markedly good game against the Tribe. The Italian led the team in scoring with 13 points on 6-for-7 shooting, bringing her average on the season to 7.1 ppg. She also had five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, proving her worth up and down the hardwood.
  • Sophomores Madisyn Moore-Nicholson and Elizabeth Archer each had solid outings against the Tribe. Moore-Nicholson dropped 12 points and Archer 11 on the afternoon.
  • Molly Driscoll holds onto her lead in scoring for the squad, averaging 13.8 ppg. In the Eagles' matchup with La Salle on Nov. 22, Driscoll scored a career-high 29 points and sank five three point jumpers to also match her career high in that statistic. She's struggled in scoring since that prolific showing but has been essential to moving the ball up the court.
Scouting the Revolutionaries
  • The Revs welcome American to the Charles E. Smith Center riding a 6-5 record on the season after defeating Delaware on Wednesday, Dec. 10 on the road. The Revs claimed the game with a narrow, 63-59 victory, thanks to a halftime lead that they were able to prevent the Fightin' Blue Hens from surmounting fully.
  • Three Revolutionaries scored in double-digits with Sarah Lewis knocking down a career-high 22 points, Kamari Sims with 16 points, and Gabby Reynolds with 12. Clutch three-pointers from Sims and Reynolds helped the Revs hold the lead and seal the win despite being outscored in the second half.
  • Over the four-game winning streak it's riding, GW is limiting opponents to just 54 points a game, outscoring the opposition on average by 8.8 ppg.
  • On the season, Reynolds holds the lead for GW in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game across eleven games. She's also got a solid 13 steals this season. The sophomore guard comes into 2025-26 off a successful rookie season that saw her named to the A-10 All-Rookie team.
  • Tanah Becker, a 6-1 sophomore, leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per game. Becker has a team-leading 14 blocks and 19 steals on the year. As a group, the Revs have been narrowly out-rebounding opponents by an average of 36.7 to 34.1.
  • The Charles E. Smith Center has been a boost for GW this year, with the Revs holding a 4-1 record at home, having dropped to another cross-town foe, Howard, in a two point, 62-60, battle in early November. It was their second loss of four in a row, but after an overtime, 83-77, loss to the ACC's Miami over Thanksgiving, the Revs have turned their luck around with four in a row, including a 10-point conference win over Dayton.
  • The Revs have been efficient all over the hardwood, shooting 41.2 percent from the floor overall and 32.4 percent from three point range. They're also, as a team, shooting 72.9 percent from the free-throw line, averaging higher than their opponents, and American, in all categories.
