BETHLEHEM, Pa. – American University field hockey coaching staff, junior
Jordan Reicher, graduate student
Agustina Roffo, and freshman
Lotti Süme were voted as the Patriot League Coaching Staff, Offensive Player, Midfielder, and Rookie of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
American collected four of the six major awards, and AU and Bucknell led the way in All-Patriot League selections with five apiece. American had the upper edge with three on the First Team and two on the Second Team; Bucknell had the inverse. Lafayette followed with four players, three on the First Team and one on the Second Team.
The five Eagles who were voted to the two All-League teams include Roffo and Reicher alongside junior midfielder
Emilia Winkler on the First Team and joining Süme on the Second Team is junior midfielder
Sophie Willemse.
All season long, the newly minted Offensive Player of the Year,
Jordan Reicher, has been a threat in the circle, and it was enough to earn her first major award in her three years with the Eagles. Last season, Reicher was named to the league's Second Team. The striker finished the 2025 regular season leading the Eagles and the Patriot League in goals (13) and in game-winning goals (4). She was third in the league in shots on goal (33) and in points (27). All of this is a marked improvement from last season when she finished with seven goals, a single game-winner, and three assists for 17 total points. Reicher finished the season having been named the Offensive Player of the Week four times across nine weeks.
Named Preseason Midfielder of the Year,
Agustina Roffo has both met and surpassed expectations set for her earlier in the year by earning the League's Midfielder of the Year title after the completion of the regular season. The graduate student winger is second on the team in goals scored (8) and points (18). In the Patriot League she is seventh in goals, ninth in points, and 10th in game winning goals (2). Roffo started in 16 games and played in all 17 across the season for the Eagles. She has earned PL Midfielder of the Week three times this season. She carries into postseason a shot on goal percentage of .800. Intangibly, Roffo's speed and agility both on and off the ball has been a fundamental part to American's offensive efforts this season.
Earning Rookie of the Year, this is
Lotti Süme first major award as an Eagle. The freshman defender from Hamburg, Germany finished the regular season with three goals and five assists for 11 points. Süme, a starter in all 17 Eagles' games this season, was the only AU player on the roster to have played every minute of every game, including overtime periods. Across her rookie season, Süme was the recipient of a Rookie and a Defensive Player of the Week honor. She earned her first collegiate goal against Towson on October 8. She was crucial to both penalty corner units, both offensively and defensively, and had a defensive save against James Madison (Sep. 7). A critical component to AU's success on both ends of the field, Süme's lockdown defense helped the back line to tally five clean sheets this season.
Head coach
Steve Jennings, along with associate head coach
Kristin Matula and assistant coach
Weslee Littlefield have been named the Coaching Staff of the Year. The trio have led the Eagles to a 12-5 regular season and another 6-0 conference season on the way to the Eagles' third straight PL regular season title. The Eagles recorded a +1.60-scoring margin to lead the Patriot League and rank 15th in NCAA DI, while holding a 1.09 GAA to rank 11th in the nation.
One of the most decorated field hockey coaches in the country, Jennings' teams have consistently been among the most dominant in the conference with 13 undefeated seasons after the Eagles closed the 2025 regular season at 6-0 in league play. This year also marked the program's 16th Patriot League regular season title, and the Eagles will look to also add their 14th tournament title this week. Currently in his 27th season, Jennings owns an overall record of 328-178 (.648), including a staggering 122-20 (.859) in the Patriot League. He currently sits at 16th all-time among Division I field hockey coaches in career wins, and 21st for win-loss percentage. He is also 33rd all-time among all divisions for career wins.
Emilia Winkler's appearance on the First Team is her second recognition to a post-season team in her three seasons at American. Winkler was named to the Second Team her rookie season, back in 2023, and started the 2025 season having been named to the Preseason All-League team. The junior led the team in assists with nine, including four in a single game against Towson and two against Bucknell. She added a goal to finish the regular season with 11 points. Winkler is third in the league in the assist category and tied for fifth on the team in points. She has started and played in all 17 of AU's games this season, averaging over 56 minutes per contest and has been a crucial part of both penalty corner units, integral on offense and defense in set pieces and throughout normal gameplay.
Joining Süme on the Second Team is junior
Sophie Willemse. The Dutch midfielder has been a stalwart in the central midfield position, performing excellently both offensively and defensively. Willemse has also been a key part of the offensive corner unit. She capped off the regular season with five goals and six assists for a total of 16 points. Sixth in the league in assists and ninth in game-winning goals (2) the junior started in all 17 of American's games this season. Throughout the season, Willemse was twice named the league's Midfielder of the Week.
American will open postseason play this this week as the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. AU will host all three games of the tournament starting with the two semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 6. The first semifinal between the Eagles and No. 4 Boston University will open the tournament at 11 a.m. No. 2 Lafayette will take the field against No. 3 Bucknell at 2 p.m.
The Patriot League Championship game will be held at Jacobs Complex at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
