Series History
  • There's only one game between these two programs in their long histories. The Eagles and the Bulldogs took to the court once before, in January of 1984. The game was an overtime victory for the AU.
Tipping Off
  • After opening the season with a home victory over Delaware State, the Eagles have struggled and are currently 1-4 on the season. Most recently, AU fell, 72-61, to La Salle in Philadelphia despite a prolific, 29-point effort from Molly Driscoll.
  • Driscoll's new career high of 29 is the most points scored by an Eagles since Jade Edwards dropped 31 at Lehigh in January of 2021. Driscoll matched her career high of five three pointers in a single contest, the most of any AU player since she last hit five triples against Winthrop in November of 2024. She ended the night on 9-for-15 shooting overall and 5-for-9 from three-point range. She went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
  • Freshman Charlotte Tuhy was once again the leader on the boards; the freshman had 14 rebounds on the afternoon for a career high defensive effort while Lexi Salazar more than doubled her previous career-high for nine boards as well. Tuhy picked up a double-double, her third of the year, with 10 points.
  • The Eagles made 10 three pointers on Saturday against the Explorers, the last time the Eagles dropped 10+ three-pointers was at Boston U. in February 2025 when they sank 14, a program record.
  • Driscoll is averaging 18.6 ppg so far this season to lead the squad and is second in the Patriot League behind Navy's Zanai Barnett-Gay who carries a 19.4 ppg average. Driscoll is also first in the league in free throw percentage, shooting 93.3 percent from the line.
  • Tuhy leads the Eagles and the league in rebounding with her 10.8 rebounds per game average. The first year is averaging 9.8 ppg so far this year, second on the team in scoring.
Scouting the Bulldogs
  • Yale comes into Bender struggling offensively; the team is currently 0-6 on the season and have lost five of the six games by greater than 10 points, including most recently against the Patriot League's Loyola Md. on Sunday when they lost 73-48 to the Greyhounds at home.
  • Against Loyola, the Bulldogs led at halftime for the second game in a row before the Greyhounds outscored then 42-8 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead and going on to outscore Yale by a total of 47-21 in the second half.
  • Sophomore Ciniya Moore was the only Bulldog in double-digit scoring position against the Greyhounds, topping out at 11 points. The guard leads the scoring charge for Yale this season and ranks third in the Ivy League with her average of 15.0 points per game. She also has a team-leading 11 steals so far.
  • Two other Bulldogs are averaging double-digit scoring on the season. Senior Kiley Capstraw and junior Luisa Vydrova are averaging 14.0 and 10.2 ppg respectively. The duo of forwards each lead the team in rebounding. Vydrova tallying an average of 6.3 boards per game while Capstraw follows closely with an average of 6.0 rpg.
  • The Bulldogs sit last in the Ivy League both offensively and defensively, averaging 58.0 ppg while their opponents are averaging 75.5 points per game, and while they're last in the league with a field goal percentage of .380, they're only narrowly behind American's percentage of .383. And Yale actually averages better than American's 55.4 ppg.
