  • Date/Time: Thursday, Nov. 20; 7 p.m.
  • Site: Brooklyn, N.Y. (Steinberg Wellness Center)
  • TV: NEC Front Row
Series History
  • There's only one game between these two programs in their long histories. The AU Eagles and the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds took to the court once before, in 1990. Since, the LIU Brooklyn Athletics Department has gone through an overhaul, combining with LIU Post to become one department, LIU, in 2019.
  • This will be the first meeting between the LIU Sharks and the Eagles.
Tipping Off
  • The Eagles, after opening the season with a win at home against Delaware State (66-63), have lost back-to-back contests to Clemson (78-38) and Delaware (68-57). Under the tutelage of first year head coach Kelly Killion, the Eagles are looking to get back into the win column when they travel to Brooklyn.
  • Two Eagles are averaging in double digits across their first three games this season. Sophomore guards Molly Driscoll and Madisyn Moore-Nicholson are averaging 15.3 and 10.7 ppg, respectively.
  • Freshman post player Charlotte Tuhy is close behind, tallying 9.7 ppg and while being the only Eagle collecting 10+ rebounds per game, averaging 10.3. In her first three collegiate games, Tuhy has earned two double doubles.
  • Against the Fightin' Blue Hens of Delaware on Monday night, Moore-Nicholson led all players on the court with a 20-point career-high night. The guard went 3-for-6 from three point range and added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Driscoll and Tuhy had solid offensive nights as well, both ending in double-digits. Driscoll dropped 15 points while Tuhy earned her second collegiate double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tuhy also picked up two blocks.
  • Anna Rescifina has been solid on both ends of the court so far this season. Scoring in double-digits in game one against DSU, the senior added five assists and three steals against Delaware. She's averaging 5.7 ppg and 3.0 rpg across the opening of nonconference season.
Scouting the Sharks
  • The Sharks are under new leadership this season; Neil Harrow joins the Sharks after three years as the Associate Head Coach with JMU and a stint in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks. Harrow briefly left JMU in the summer of 2024 to join the L Sparks as an assistant coach where he worked with four Olympians and one WNBA all-star.
  • Harrow and the Sharks are 3-1 on the season, with a season opening win over Northeastern (75-60), before suffering their only loss so far against South Florida (79-72). The squad bounced back against Kean with a dominant, 87-27 win in their home opener. LIU and AU have both taken on the Hornets of Delaware State. Most recently, LIU clocked a solid 70-56 win over the Hornets on the road in Newark, Del.
  • This is the Sharks' first 3-1 start to a season since the 2011-2012 season, and they did it in dramatic fashion, outpacing the Hornets 29-16 in the third period to take firm control of the game before taking the 14 point victory.
  • Junior Kadidia Toure led all scorers with 21 points, collecting a team-high 13 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season. Graduate student Hannah Humphrey (15) and junior Janessa Williams (10) also finished in double figures.
  • LIU outrebounded the Hornets 40-28 and forced 17 Delaware State turnovers. In comparison, the Eagles and Delaware state were even 37-all in rebounding and AU had 13 to DSU's 14 turnovers.
  • American shot 41.5 percent to Delaware State's 46.6 percent, and the Sharks and the Hornets shot 36.4 and 36.1 percent from the floor respectively.
  • For the Sharks, Toure leads the team both offensively and defensively. Across four games she's averaging 22.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg. She's also got five blocks and three steals to her stat line.
  • Williams is also recording an average ppg of 10+, clocking in at 11.0 ppg and is currently second on the team in rebounding, 7.3 rpg. Meanwhile, Humprey has a team-leading seven steals and averages 9.3 ppg for the Sharks.
