BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second week in a row,
Jordan Reicher and
Sophie Willemse of American University field hockey, have earned Patriot League weekly honors for their stellar performances against both Lehigh and Delaware over the weekend.
The Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, Reicher continues to be a threat in the circle. The junior striker had two goals across the weekend and was a force on the ball in every attacking sequence. She opened the scoring for the Eagles against Lehigh, and against Delaware, scored AU's fourth of the afternoon. Reicher has a team-leading 11 goals this season. Against Lehigh, all three of her shots were on target, and against Delaware three of the four were on frame. This is her fourth time being honored this year.
Willemse has earned her second honor of the season being named this week's PL Midfielder of the Week. Willemse was an integral part of the Eagles' two wins this weekend against both Lehigh and Delaware. To pair with her passing and defensive play, the junior scored the first two goals for American against Delaware, the second of which ended up being the game-winner. Against the Blue Hens, Willemse took three shots (all three of which were on target) and scored on two of those.
The Eagles return home to D.C. for the final game of the regular season, Senior Day and Alumni Day against conference opponent, Holy Cross on Nov. 1. Push back is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jacobs Complex.
