Reicher, Süme, and Willemse Honored as PL Players of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A trio of Eagles from the American University field hockey team has earned Patriot League weekly honors. Jordan Reicher, Lotti Süme, and Sophie Willemse have all been tabbed with honors for their performances against both Bucknell and Richmond over the weekend.

The Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, Reicher, on top of her solo goal against Richmond, was a force all weekend against both the Spiders and Bucknell. This is her third time being honored this season. The junior won the stroke that earned the Eagles their first goal against Bucknell, and was dominant all weekend, winning corners and making plays. Against Richmond, all five of Reicher's shots, a team leader in attempts, were on target.

Süme has been named the Rookie of the Week. This is her second PL honor this year after having been named Defensive Player of the Week two weeks prior. Süme was the backbone of the Eagles' defensive unit across the weekend. The freshman central defender played the entirety of each game against both Bucknell and Richmond. Süme scored the second goal of the game against Bucknell, her second collegiate goal, and assisted on Agustina Roffo's game-winning-goal against the Spiders. She was also part of a defensive line that didn't allow Richmond a single penalty corner until the fourth quarter, the defense only allowing four in the entire contest against a team that came in averaging 7/game.

Willemse has earned her first PL honor this year, being named this week's PL Midfielder of the Week. She was an integral part of both wins this weekend against Bucknell and Richmond. The junior scored the game winning goal in the fourth quarter against the Bison to keep American perfect, 4-0, in the Patriot League, and had a hand in the first two of four goals against the Spiders. Willemse assisted on the first goal and then scored off the penalty corner for American's second goal of the afternoon.

The Eagles are out on the road with a run of two more away games until the final game of the regular season on Nov. 1. For their next matchup, they'll take on Lehigh on Friday Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. before squaring off with Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.
