BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Emilia Winkler and Ninthe Botman of the American University field hockey team are Patriot League players of the week, the conference office announced on Monday. Winkler is the Midfielder of the Week while Botman, for a third time, is the PL Rookie of the Week.  
 
Botman scored in the first period of American's game against Towson, opening the scoring and getting the Eagles on the board early. In the third minute, a ball was swiped parallel across the mouth of the goal to an open Botman who put the Eagles up 1-nil to start the game. The freshman is now third on the team in goals scored (5) and has started all 12 games thus far this season.
 
Winkler was integral to the Eagles' 5-0 win over Towson. The junior midfielder assisted on four goals and was a key part to the buildup of a fifth. Against VCU in the Eagles' double OT contest, Winkler played 67 of the 74 minutes of the game and was key to the Eagles both offensively and defensively and as part of the DPC unit refused to let any of the four penalty corners awarded against the Eagles this week result in a goal.

The Eagles are finishing up their five-game, D.C. homestand. For the fifth and final home game of this run will be on Fri., Oct. 17 against Bucknell before going out on the road to take on Richmond on Sunday, Oct. 19.
