BOYDS, Md. -- The American University men's soccer team will look to get in the win column on Monday, September 2, at 7:00 p.m. as it hosts Temple for a Labor Day matchup at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
Monday will be American's Mental Health Awareness Game.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- Temple leads the all-time series, 14-3, with two ties.
- American earned its first win over the Owls in more than 40 years last season, a 4-1 win in Philadelphia.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- In its season opener against California Baptist, American played the two-time defending WAC champions to a 0-0 tie. Junior goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts recorded his fourth career clean sheet, with two critical saves.
- Preseason All-Patriot League selection Zemi Rodriguez exited the opening game with an injury in just the 10th minute. Rodriguez has seven career goals and nine assists with the Eagles.
- American has lost its two games since the opener: a 4-1 loss to No. 17-ranked Hofstra and a 1-0 loss at UNC Wilmington.Â
- Junior goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts recorded a career-high 10 saves at UNC Wilmington. He has 15 saves on the season and is allowing fewer than two goals per game.Â
- Four Eagles were selected to the Preseason All-Patriot League team: Rodriguez, graduate student Ethan Boyle, graduate student Cooper Nunn and senior Sam Hershey, with Boyle being selected as the League's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.Â
- The Eagles are still looking to score their first goal of the season. The Eagles' lone goal was scored as an own goal against Hofstra, as a cross from sophomore Jared Weber forced the error from the Pride defense.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT TEMPLE
- Temple enters the game with a 1-1-1 record, with a season-opening 1-1 tie against Army West Point, a 3-2 win against Villanova, and a 2-0 loss to Monmouth.Â
- The Owls are led by Bryan Green, who enters his second season at Temple. In his first season, the Owls just missed the American Conference playoffs, but celebrated a highlight win against defending national champions Syracuse.Â
- The Owls' four goals this season have all been scored by different players. Senior Xavier Rimpel leads the team with a goal and two assists thus far.Â
- Freshman Charlie Votel has also scored a goal this season, contributing to the Owls' win against Villanova.Â
- Temple's loss to Monmouth came despite outshooting their opponents 11-8, conceding a goal in each half.Â
- The Owls have conceded at least one goal in the second half of each of their three games this season.Â
- Temple is a relatively young team, with 19 underclassmen on its roster.
