CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The American University men's soccer team fell behind three goals to UVA in the first half of Friday night's match, and the Eagles couldn't fight their way back into the contest. American falls to 0-2-1 with the loss.
How it Happened
- UVA struck first in the 17th minute with a goal from Sebastian Pop. Just three minutes later, Prince Abanfo found the back of the net.
- Just before the end of the half, Sebastian Pop added one more for the home side.
- Evan Tubbs made four saves in both halves to reach eight total, including multiple acrobatic stops. However, it was a relentless Virginia attacking effort, as the Cavaliers put 12 shots on goal and Marco Dos Santos added a fourth goal in the 81st minute on a penalty kick.
