WASHINGTON - After setting a new program record for saves in a game, junior
Caleigh Forti of American University lacrosse has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 22-28. It is the first such honor for Forti, and the sixth for lacrosse this season.
The Eagles traveled to #20 Navy in the regular season finale, falling 18-10 despite an incredible 21 saves from Forti. The previous program record was 20 saves in a game. Forti made eight saves in the first quarter alone, and added seven more in the third quarter. In the contest, she also led AU with three ground balls.
American finished in a four-way tie for fifth place in the PL standings at 3-6, but lost out in a spot in the conference tournament after tiebreakers.
