ANNAPOLIS, Md. - It was a memorable day three for the American University men's and women's swimming teams at the Patriot League Championships, as the Eagles earned one silver medal, broke two school relay records, and had a total of 14 finalists across eight different events. The silver medal belonged to senior
Mimi Watts in the 100 fly, bringing her career medal count to eight, while the relay record broken by the men's team was last set 24 years ago.
Notable Women's Results
	- Watts led-off the women's 200 freestyle relay at the close of the night, and was joined by freshman Lian Jeong Engle, sophomore Dylan Moulton and sophomore Isabel McGovern in taking seventh place and setting a school record with a time of 1:32.95.
- In a tight finish in the 100 fly finals, Watts came up short against Navy's Caroline Irwin by less than two-tenths of a second. The silver medal for Watts is her eighth medal in three years, and her time of 52.84 was a season best after she won the prelims in 53.49. Both times meet the NCAA "B" standard.
- McGovern advanced to the B final in the 100 fly with a time of 55.74, and posted an even faster 55.15 to take 12th overall. Her new PR ranks as the second-fastest in program history for that event at American.
- After barely missing out on the C final in the 100 fly, junior Amaya Tomma came back later with a strong swim in the 100 backstroke to advance to the A final. Her time of 56.71 was short of a PR but earned her sixth place in the prelims, and she later took seventh overall in 56.90.
- Senior Sasha Uspenskaya posted a 57.17 in the 100 back prelims to earn a spot in the B final, where she took second (10th overall) in a new PR of 56.87 that improves on her own 11th-best PR at American.
- The Eagles had some extra excitement in the women's 100 back as junior Laura Laux tied for 24th and later was part of a swim-off against a Lafayette swimmer for the final spot in the C final. Laux posted a lifetime-best 58.23 in her swim-off to get the finalist spot and move into 10th all-time at American.
- Sophomores Gabby Kaczorowski and Veronica Lester finished 29th and 30th in the 100 fly prelims in 57.82 and 58.04, respectively, with Lester's time being a new PR.
- Sophomore Katie Yoo advanced to the B final in the women's 400 IM with a short-lived lifetime-best 4:31.24 that moved her up to 10th all-time at AU. In the finals, Yoo shaved nearly three seconds off to take 13th overall in 4:28.59 which ranks fifth-best all-time at AU.
- Sophomore Grace Netz (1:05.91) and Jeong Engle (1:07.39) both advanced to the 100 breaststroke C final where both set new PRs. Netz took first in the C final (17th overall) in 1:04.65 to move up to sixth all-time, while Jeong Engle placed 21st overall in 1:06.02 which moves her up to 13th all-time.
- In the women's 1-meter diving, sophomore Peyton Thurman scored 229.50 to place 15th and advance to the B final where she moved up a spot to 14th overall with a score of 229.05.
Notable Men's Results
	- The men's 200 free relay foursome of senior Nick Buckley, freshman Connor Florence, junior Aidan Delehanty and senior Caleb Farris took sixth place in 1:21.75, coming in below the previous school record of 1:21.88 from the 1999-2000 season.
- Leading off that relay in 2000 was AU Hall of Famer and current Navy assistant coach Mark Liscinsky, with the group also including Frank Byskov who will be inducted into AU's Pop Cassell Hall of Fame next weekend.
- Farris had a strong swim in the B final of the 100 fly, taking 14th overall in 48.46, shaving time off his 48.51 from the prelims and coming with 0.11 of his own school record.
- In the 100 fly prelims, Buckley swam a lifetime-best 49.60 to advance to the C final where he placed 23rd overall.
- Three others posted new personal bests in the prelims of the 100 fly—junior Daniel Coughlin in 50.75, Florence in 51.52, and sophomore Kai O'Malley in 51.60
- Freshman Lucas Standridge finished in a short-lived lifetime-best 1:40.00 in the men's 200 free prelims to earn a spot in the C final. He improved that time to 1:39.79 in the finals, taking 19th overall and moving up to sixth on AU's all-time PR list in that event.
- The Eagles also had two C finalists in the men's 100 breaststroke, with sophomore Colin Clough and junior Henry Harrison taking 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Clough's time of 56.10 was a lifetime best that moved him up to fourth on AU's all-time PR list. Harrison had set a PR in the prelims but broke it with a finals time of 56.47 that places him in seventh all-time.
