NOTES

  • Last time out, the women's 800m squad came away with a big day, with four Eagles recording new PRs, including sophomore Kate Riley whose mark was good enough for sixth all-time indoors in school history. Riley, along with juniors Lucia Ianello and Kirah Tianga who also set PRs at Ocean Breeze with nearly identical marks of 2:20.40 and 2:20.44 respectively, will all bump up to the slightly longer 1000m run this weekend at George Mason.
  • For the men, a quartet of Nate Reeves, Carver Morgan, Oscar Counsell, and Mathias Deldique will race the 800m for the first time this season. Deldique won his heat of the mile last weekend at Ocean Breeze in a new PR of 4:12.48. The other three last competed in Boston for the Scarlett and White Invitational in the mile, with Reeves leading the way with a mark of 4:07.88.
  • Graduate student June Mwaniki will also be racing for the first time since the Scarlett and White Invitational in the women's mile. She finished 7th in the event the last time the Eagles were at George Mason for the Patriot Games with a new personal best of 5:06.73. Mwaniki will be joined on the line by a trio of underclassmen teammates in Scarlett Lestina, Estella Miller, and Skyler Tatum.
  • Last week, with his third consecutive PR in the event in consecutive weeks, junior Danny O'Neill moved up to the fourth spot in program history in the 1000m with a mark of 2:26.19 at Ocean Breeze. O'Neill will again toe the line this week, this time testing his speed in the 600m. O'Neill will be joined by sophomore Kaden Kluth and senior Ethan Puc, who both last competed in Boston at the 800m distance.
  • On the sprint side, first-year teammates Ciera Thacker and Lorelei Bangit will duel it out in the 200m dash. Thacker set a new program benchmark at the distance last weekend with a mark of 25.53, one-hundredth of a second faster than Bangit's best mark that she set last month. Bangit will also be competing in the 400m dash, an event that she holds the school record in with a mark of 56.38 earlier this month.
  • The men's sprint squad of Owen Garret, Emilio Hooper, Toby Khang, and Malcolm Lewis will all be running the 400m dash for the second consecutive week, after all four coming away with PRs at Ocean Breeze. Lewis, whose time of 50.48 was the third fastest by an AU athlete in the indoor 400m, will be doubling back for the 200m later in the day with school record holder Fernando Ibarra and fellow first-year Jason Omari-Anim.
