WASHINGTON – The American University women's basketball team rounds out a back-to-back homestand hosting Navy on Bender Arena on Wednesday evening. The Eagles are hot off defeating Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.
The game will be the Eagle's annual Play4Kay Cancer Awareness game, and they will be wearing their pink jerseys for the first time this season. Play4Kay Night at Bender Arena is set for 7 p.m. EST, so be AU women's basketball's Valentine and wear pink in support.

- American defeated the reigning Patriot League Champions, and top-of-the-league, Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon in a thrilling, 74-68, senior-day victory.
- Saturday's contest was led by senior guard Anna LeMaster with 16 points, including two shots made from distance. She was one of four Eagles in double digits. Fellow senior Kayla Henning and sophomore Laura Nogues each finished with 14 points, while sophomore Molly Lavin adding 10 to the cause.
- In the contest, senior Ivy Bales led the team on the boards with nine rebounds and topped the stats with three assists. Bales ranks third in the Patriot League with steals per game at 2.1 average per outing.
- American currently sits tied for second in the Patriot League, with a 7-4 conference record, knotted up with Army West Point.
- Offensively, forward Emily Johns leads American with 11.7 points per game and Bales leads in assists with 3.2 per game. Bales also leads the team on the glass, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT NAVY
- Navy fell to their Patriot League rival Army on Saturday 58-70. The Mids are now 4-7, sitting at ninght in the Patriot League, with upset wins over Colgate (59-58), Lehigh (62-46), and Bucknell (59-48).
- In the contest against the Black Knights, Kate Samson had a strong performance on both ends of the court as she tied a career-high with 16 points and picked up nine rebounds, just shy of a double-double, while blocking a career-high six shots.
- Zanai Barnett-Gay is having a strong freshman campaign, sweeping Patriot League Honors for the week of Feb. 5., and has earned six Rookie of the week awards overall so far this season. Barnett-Gay has posted five double-doubles so far this season.
- Despite their team's record, Barnett-Gay leads the Mids and ranks second in the conference in scoring averaging 18 ppg. She also sits atop the league in steals with 3.2 per game.
- Sophomore Kate Samson is third in the league in blocked shots, averaging 1.5 per game, while first-year Kyah Smith is fourth in the league in assists, averaging 3.3 per game.
