WASHINGTON – The Patriot League announced Monday that American University field hockey first-year Emilia Winkler was named Rookie of the Week for her efforts against Ohio University and No. 5 Penn State over the weekend.
 
Against the Bobcats on Friday, Winkler had a hand in the Eagles' fourth goal of the contest to earn an assist in her first collegiate appearance. Just two days later, against No. 5 Penn State, the Berlin native would force a turnover in the midfield and escort the ball all the way into the back of the goal with an impressive solo effort that would give the Eagles a 2-0 edge that lasted until late in the fourth quarter.

Up next, the squad is embarking on a six-game away stretch starting with Richmond on Friday, September 1 at 5 p.m.
