Jordan Mitchell and Hannah Spease Named to Women's Lacrosse All-Patriot League Second Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – American University lacrosse had two athletes selected to the Patriot League Postseason All-League teams, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Juniors Jordan Mitchell and Hannah Spease were both named to the Patriot League All-League Second team, Mitchell as a defender and Spease as a midfielder.

This honor marks the first postseason honor for Spease and the second year in a row for Mitchell being named to the second team.

The Patriot League major awards and All-League teams are voted on by Patriot League women's lacrosse head coaches, who could not vote for their student-athletes or themselves.

Finishing the season with 36 points and 30 goals, third and second on the Eagles squad respectively, Spease's first season at American saw her starting in all 16 games this year. The junior midfielder leads the team in draw controls with 69; her single-game high was 11 in a contest against Mercer. Spease also had 12 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls to contribute to the Eagles' 2023 campaign.

On the defensive end, Mitchell has maintained her role as one of the primary threats for the Eagles as a mark-up defender against top offensive threats of competitors. She started all 16 games of the season and worked as the crucial player in transition, helping the team to an 84% clear percentage. She finished the season with eight ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
