WASHINGTON – American University women's lacrosse (6-4, 2-1 PL) is coming home to Jacobs on Saturday, April 1 to kick off a three-game home stint that will start against #13 Army West Point (10-0, 4-0 PL). The contest is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. and during half-time, the 2003 Patriot League Championship winning team, among other alumnae, will be celebrated.

At halftime, the Eagles will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of 2003 Patriot League Championship winning team. The Eagles will also be commemorating other alumni for their service to the program throughout the years.

SERIES HISTORY
- In the brief series between the two programs, the Eagles lead the Black Knights 3-2 overall and has a 2-0 lead over the Black Knights at home at Jacobs Complex.
- In the last meeting, April 2, 2022, in West Point, American fell 14-17 when Army claimed the victory in a series that's gone back-and-forth since 2017.
- The two programs didn't meet at all during either the 2020 or the 2021 season, and the last time they faced off in Washington, back in 2019, American took the 12-10 win over the Black Knights.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles come into Saturday's match from a 7-19 Patriot League loss against Loyola Maryland Wednesday, their first loss in conference play. American fought hard but couldn't mount anything substantial against the Greyhounds who rank as the No. 9 team in the country.
- The Eagles fell behind early but continued to play hard until the final second when Rachel Kolton earned a free-position shot bringing the final tally to 7-19 as the buzzer rang.
- Both Kellie Linehan and Annabelle Jackson led the team with two goals each, and trailing behind with one goal each was Alyssa Apuzzo, Kolton, and Ashley Smith.
- Lizzie De Guzman and Jordan Mitchell held strong in the defense reporting two and one caused turnovers, respectively. Freshman defender Bliss Vernon and senior Jane Reffelt picked up two ground balls to help the Eagles in their fight
- Jackson leads the team in goals with an overall of 20 goals this season and 5 assists. Hannah Spease and Maddy Spratt follow with 19 goals each.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ARMY WEST POINT
- Army West Point are coming off a victory against Lehigh, 15-14. The game was a comeback story for the Black Knights who fell behind 7-1 in the first quarter but closed the gap to a one-point deficit before the half ended, 7-6.
- The match stayed close in numbers throughout the second half, the Black Knights holding on with a 13-12 lead with 7:13 to play. With T-minus 3 minutes left, they held 3 points over the Mountain Hawks, and while Lehigh made it a one-goal game, it wasn't enough. This close win for the Black Knights keeps them undefeated with a 10-0 overall and 4-0 league record.
- Goal leaders were freshmen Brigid Duffy, and Junior Julia Gorajek with five and four goals respectively. Duffy leads the teams in goals, 39, second in assists, 13, and she ranks fifth in the country for her record of 2.9 goals per game.
- Kathleen Sullivan who holds the highest assist for the team, 23, recorded three pts in the match against the Mountain Hawks with 1 goal and 2 assists.
- Defensively, Cathleen Parker and Sidney Weigand each caused two turnovers, leading the effort in the back.
