RALEIGH, N.C. – Five members of the American University track team got to escape the cold and rainy weather in D.C. when they traveled south to North Carolina to take part in the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State University.
On Thursday evening, senior distance runner
Row Sullivan stepped onto the track to take part in the 5000m. They finished 113th among a field of over 200 competitors across ten heats when they crossed the line with a time of 14:33.06.
In the men's 800m race, freshman
Kaden Kluth led the pack in his heat, and for the Eagles on the afternoon, with his 41st place finish, coming across in 1:51.69.
Nathan Reeves and
Tucker Zullo would finish one right after the other in their heat, less than a second apart.
Ethan Puc would round out the afternoon with his time of 1:55.17.
Kluth's time would put him at number nine in the school's top-10 performances list in the event, right below Zullo and above Reeves who both earned spots on the list last outdoor season.
QUOTES FROM COACH GRAHAM
"We had a pretty good opener down here in Raleigh. They all ran about the same times they were running at the end of the season last year. When we're doing that in March at the first hot outdoor meet, it's a good sign.
"Certainly, we were looking for a little faster today, but I'm pleased with the results and am excited to see where we go from here."
