WASHINGTON – Sophomore Daniel Messer was named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (Mar. 24) after winning the steeplechase at the Richmond Fred Hardy Invitational (Mar. 20). This is his first ever Patriot League honor.

Messer ran a 31-second PR of 9:15.54 to win the event by almost 20 seconds. His performance sits atop the Patriot League outdoor rankings. He is ranked fourth in the NCAA East Region and seventh in the NCAA after his dominant season opener.

Messer ran personal bests in every race he ran during the indoor season, knocking 30 seconds off his 3k PR and 43 seconds off his 5k PR.
