WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, the American University women's basketball team (6-20, 5-10 PL), will be making the quick trip to Annapolis to take the court against Navy (1-25, 1-14 PL), with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m. The Eagles will be looking to complete the season series sweep after having defeated the Mids, 62-55, at home in Bender back in late January.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- The Eagles lead the series against the Mids 41-24 in a series that dates back to 1978. In all competitions American has led the series 9-1 in the last ten meetups and has lost just once to Navy since 2018. In Annapolis, Navy leads 18-13.
- Last time the two programs faced off was in Bender on January 28 when the Eagles surged past the Mids in the final period to claim the 62-55 victory. At halftime of the game, American trailed by 10 points, but came out of the break with a purpose to retake the lead with eight minutes left in the game and never relinquish it as time wound down.
- Emily Johns, the junior forward, finished the afternoon contest with 16 points, going 6-9 from the field. She also grabbed four rebounds.
- Freshmen Laura Nogues and Molly Lavin combined for 14 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Eagles over the Mids. Nogues ended the game with a career-high 11 points, going 4-6 from the floor. Lavin finished with nine points.
- The Mids were led by Lindsay Llewellyn with 14 points off the bench. Llewellyn also had five rebounds. On the boards, Morganne Andrews led with a career-high 17 rebounds. Andrews also had four steals and a season-high eight points.
- Kate Samson went 5-for-6 and reached double-digits for the first time in six games, as she went for 10 points to go along with five rebounds and a block.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles are coming into the midweek matchup off a 66-49 loss to the number one scoring offense in the league, the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh. American held a lead until the final two minutes of the opening quarter before Lehigh got their feet underneath them and charged ahead, holding a sizeable lead for the remainder of the game.
- Junior guard Kayla Henning led for the Eagles with 14 points. She also had three rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Following Henning was Lauren Stack with 10 points, five rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Second on the team in scoring average (8.8 ppg) and in rebounds, (5.3 rpg) and steals (43), she also leads the team in blocked shots (9).
- Other key performers defensively for the Eagles against Lehigh were Ivy Bales and freshman Molly Lavin who had seven and six rebounds, respectively. Bales is second in the league in steals (44), averaging 1.8 per game. She is also seventh in the league in assists (80), averaging 3.1 per game and 10th in rebounding average (6.2 rpg). She leads the Eagles in all three categories
- Emily Johns, who scored nine points at Lehigh is American's leading points-scorer this season with 320, averaging 12.8 ppg. She is also 12th in the league in scoring average, fifth in field goal percentage (.461). She leads the Eagles in both categories.
- Lavin is currently second on the team in total three-point field goals made this season (17) and leads in three-point percentage (.362).
- On the season, American leads the league in steals (211), averaging 8.12 per game and is fourth in the league in assists with 340, averaging 13.08 per game.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT NAVY
- Navy is coming off a Sunday matinee loss, 50-74, at Loyola Maryland. The Mids fell victim to a hot-shooting Loyola squad that started off fast and never slowed down as it shot nearly 60 percent (59.1%) for the contest.
- The duo of junior Sydne Watts and freshman Maren Louridas led Navy with 27 combined points. Watts shot 50 percent (6-12 FG, 3-6 3 PT) to finish with 15 points, while Louridas added 12 of her own, knocking down five from the floor, including one three pointer.
- Watts is 10th in the league in field goal percentage (.370), averaging 13.0 points per game and leading Navy in both categories. She has 37 triples this season, shooting .291 from distance.
- Louridas, the standout freshman guard, leads Navy with 52 triples on the season, averaging 2.0 per game, which puts her at second in the Patriot League in the category. Louridas also has the second highest scoring average on the team (12.2 ppg), is second in rebounds per game (4.7), and second in assists (57).
- Lindsay Llewellyn finished the game against Loyola with nine points, going 4-for-8 from the field. She also grabbed four steals. Averaging 11.5 points per game, the senior rounds out Navy's double-digit top scorers and along with Watts, averages 3.9 rebounds per game.
- Another key performer for Navy this season is freshman Kate Samson who is fourth in the league in blocked shots, with 24 for the season. Samson averages 6.1 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.
- Morganne Andrews leads the Mids on the glass, averaging 6.0 boards per game. Navy, as a team, is second in the league in combined team rebounds (958), averaging 36.8 per game.
