Men's 200 Medley Relay Sets School Record on Day One of PL Swim & Dive Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The first school record fell on day one of the 2023 Patriot League Championships for American University swimming & diving as the men's 200 medley relay team bested a record set earlier this season. The Eagles also had a finalist on the opening day in sophomore diver Griffin Batt.

Notable
  • With a time of 1:30.07, sophomore Aidan Delehanty and juniors Will Deitch, Caleb Farris and Nick Buckley put their names at the top of the record book in the 200 medley relay. The foursome placed seventh in the event.
  • Batt advanced to the "B" final in the men's 3-meter diving event, and then saw a huge improvement from prelims to finals. After scoring 229.95 to place 12th overall, Batt then posted a personal-best score of 254.35 in the final to lead all divers and ultimately take ninth overall. His new PR also ranks ninth all-time in program history.
  • Freshman Sophia Hemingway, senior Kenzie Cresci, junior Mimi Watts and freshman Avery Barber posted the second-best time in program history in the women's 200 medley relay, coming in at 1:43.00 and placing sixth in that event.
  • Sophomore Griffin Batt scored points for the Eagles on the 3-meter, advancing to the consolation final and taking ninth overall with a new PR of 254.35 that ranks ninth all-time.
  • The Eagles capped off day one with the 800 freestyle relay, taking ninth for the women in 7:45.26 and 10th for the men in 6:54.06. Both times were good enough for 16th-best all-time at AU.
  • Competing for the women were sophomore Marissa Kleckner, senior Kayla Winters, freshman Katie Yoo and senior Gabi Suarez. For the men, it was junior Griffin Young, senior Kyle Silbert, junior Carlos Cordero and junior Joe Melin.
