WASHINGTON - After an impressive opening week for American University wrestling, junior Jack Maida has been named the co-Wrestler of the Week in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA). Maida, who is 5-0 so far, is now ranked as high as No. 15 in the country at 125 pounds.
Maida, who made the drop to 125 this season from 133, started the season off at his new weight class with a 13-4 major decision win over #15 Braxton Brown in American's dual meet with Maryland on November 2. On November 5, he continued his winning ways by claiming the Battle at The Citadel title. He went 4-0 for the day including a pin of Appalachian State's Noah Luna in the first-place bout.
To open the season, Maida was ranked 30th by Intermat. He's now 15th on FloWrestling, 16th on Intermat, 16th on WrestleStat and 17th on College Wrestling Report.
The Eagles will wrestle two neutral-site duals at George Mason on Saturday, Nov. 11, taking on Clarion at noon and Millersville at 1:30 p.m.
