WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Nov. 29, the American University Women's basketball team will be hosting Coastal Athletic Association's Delaware at 7 p.m. in Bender Arena. The Eagles will be looking stop a downward slide in its tracks while the Blue Hens grabbed their first win in four games against Vermont on Sunday.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- Delaware leads American 13-6 in the all-time series. The last time the Eagles won over the Blue Hens it was seven games prior, but back when the two programs faced off in 1991.
- Last season, the two teams faced off before the winter holiday break in American's final non-conference game of the season. The Eagles dropped the contest, falling 50-66 to the Blue Hens who had a 46% field goal percentage and shot 50% from three.
- AU was led by Emily Johns and Lauren Stack with 13 and 12 points respectively. Both forwards were in foul trouble starting early in the third quarter when they each picked up a third foul. Stack also led for the Eagles on the glass, registering a double-double when she pulled down ten boards.
- The Blue Hens were led by Kharis Idom and Jewel Smalls with 16 points apiece. Their top scorer for the season, Klarke Sconiers, fouled out of the game just four minutes into the final period. UD's top rebounder for the season, Makayla Pippin fouled out with three minutes remaining in the game. Idom, Smalls, and Pippin were all fifth years and are no longer on the roster.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles started out their season on a high note, defeating the Longwood Lancers by double-digits, 81-68, at home to kick off the season. Since then, the AU has been on a four game slide, dropping to four Atlantic-10 opponents in a row.
- Leading the charge for AU so far this year, Johns is averaging 12.4 points per game and has been in double-digits in all but one game so far. Johns is also the only Eagle that averages in double figures at this point in the season.
- Anna LeMaster (7.8), Molly Lavin (7.4), Ivy Bales (7.2) and Lauren Stack (7.2) are AU's next leading scorers. LeMaster scored a career-high against George Washington with 18 points while playing a career-high 35 minutes. LeMaster and Lavin both lead the squad with 5.2 rebounds per game.
- In their most recent outing, against George Mason, Johns and Bales were the top-scorers with 14 and 13 points respectively while Stack grabbed 11 points. On the boards, Kayla Henning, Bailey Garbee, and LeMaster came out on top with five rebounds apiece.
- Johns had accumulated 12 of her points in the first half, shooting 6-8 from the field; the forward, along with Bales, got into foul trouble, each finishing the contest with four personal fouls a limiting their time on the court down the stretch; Bales picking up her fourth foul with four minutes remaining and Johns picking up hers with two minutes remaining.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT DELAWARE
- The Blue Hens began their season with an 81-55 win against the same team American began their season with a win over three days earlier: the Longwood Lancers. After that, Delaware went on a three-game slide, losing to Lehigh, FGCU, and Purdue Fort Wayne before breaking the streak with a 73-66 win over Vermont at the Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday.
- Delaware has four players averaging in double-digits so far on the season: Tara Cousins (15.8), Chloe Wilson (15.0), Klarke Sconiers (13.2), and Sydney Boone (10.0). Wilson is also the team's second-highest rebounder with an average of 6.2 per game behind Darrionna Howard who grabs an average of 8.2 per game.
- In Delaware's win over Vermont, there were three Blue Hens who scored in double digits. Cousins led the charge with 22 points while Wilson and Boone each dropped 17 over the Catamounts. Cousins went 4-7 from beyond the arc while Boone went 3-7 and 7-13 overall in the contest.
- Wilson grabbed 11 of her points from the free-throw line, on 14 attempts. She also brought down seven boards, had two steals and four assists. She claimed all but two of the points taken from the charity stripe.
- Against Vermont, Boone and Sconiers were both in foul trouble, with the latter fouling out in the final moments of the contest after playing with four fouls for the final six minutes of the period, and the former grabbing her third foul with 12 minutes remaining in the game and her fourth with just over a minute to go.
