WASHINGTON – For the first time since American left the CAA after the 2000-01 season, the American University women's basketball team will take to the court against Richmond University on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. The two programs have met 38 times in their history, but it has been over 21 years since the Eagles and the Spiders have faced off in regular season competition.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This will be the 39th meeting between Richmond and American; The Spiders lead the Eagles 25-13 in the all-time series and 5-0 in the last five meetings.
- The last time the two programs held court together was on 25 February 2001 in which Richmond defeated American 58-76. The last time AU defeated RU was back in 1998, topping the Spiders 81-78 away in Richmond.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- After starting the season off with an emphatic home win over Longwood, the Eagles are still looking for a road win after playing away and losing their next two matches, dropping first to La Salle and then George Washington.
- In their match-up with George Washington on Wednesday evening, American was led both offensively and defensively by Anna LeMaster. The senior guard tallied a career-high 18 points and totaled five rebounds while playing 35 minutes of the contest. Of her four field goals, three came from beyond the arc. She also went a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe.
- Senior forward Emily Johns had another good outing for American against the Revolutionaries, totaling up 12 points and grabbing a block and a steal. Johns is leading the squad, averaging 15.3 ppg across the Eagles' three contests so far.
- Another senior, Ivy Bales went 4-4 from the field, including one triple, but the senior ended up in foul trouble, picking up her fourth with 5:03 remaining. She finished with nine points. Bales also had two assists, steals, and rebounds.
- The Eagles will also look to continue to bring back their success beyond the arc against the Spiders. Against Longwood in their season opener, they sank 11 triples, but only went 2-19 against La Salle, and there was moderate improvement against the Revolutionaries, going 4-15.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT RICHMOND
- Since dropping their season opener on the road at Duke, 53-83, the Spiders won their next two match-ups, downing Delaware State, 105-44, at home and then Gardner-Webb, 80-53, on the road in North Carolina.
- This season, Richmond is being led offensively by forward Maggie Doogan, who is averaging 15.0 points per game, dropping 25 against Gardner-Webb midweek. It was the sophomores fourth double-double of her career and her fourth game collecting 10 or more rebounds.
- Two Spiders, Grace Townsend and Laren VanArsdale also finished the game against Gardner-Webb in double digits, grabbing 18 and 12 points respectively. On the season, Townsend is averaging 11.3 ppg, second highest on the team after Doogan.
- Townsend is leading the team in rebounds this season with an average of 5.0 per game, followed by Doogan, who averages 4.7.
- Against Delaware State, the Spiders shots 53.8% from beyond the arc and 60.6% overall from the field to claim their first win of the season. They were led by Siobhan Ryan, who paced the team with 15 points and ended the game shooting 5-8 from the field, 3-5 from deep and 2-3 from the line. In addition, she recorded three rebounds two assists and a theft.
