WASHINGTON – After opening the conference season with two back-to-back wins before falling to league-leading Holy Cross, the American University women's basketball team (3-11, 2-1 PL) is traveling to take on Boston University (8-6, 3-0 PL) on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. The Terriers, along with Holy Cross, are undefeated so far in Patriot League play, coming off a win against Lafayette on Thursday.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- The Eagles lead in the series against the Terriers 16-8. Last season, the two teams went head-to-head three times, twice in the regular season and once in the post season.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles are heading into the matchup on Sunday with a 2-1 record in conference play after suffering a 62-45 defeat, despite leading the game at halftime, against Holy Cross on Jan. 5.
- Against Holy Cross, the American was led by freshman forward, Molly Lavin. Lavin led the Eagles in scoring, finishing with 15 points. She scored the bulk of her points from beyond the arc, hitting 50% from range, including three in the first half. She also tallied four rebounds.
- Despite getting into foul trouble later in the game, forward Lauren Stack still notched eight points for the Eagles while pacing American with six rebounds and three steals.
- Ivy Bales, who leads American this season in rebounds per game (5.7), and Emily Johns, who leads the squad in points per game (13.6) and field goal percentage (.463), were both limited due to getting into foul trouble early on against Holy Cross.
- Guard Sadie Stetson made her third career start against Holy Cross, playing 33 minutes. The senior grabbed two steals and four rebounds for American.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BOSTON U
- The Terriers are one of two teams remaining that have gone undefeated in Patriot League competition. Boston U will be coming into Sunday's matchup with three double-digit wins in a row over Navy, Bucknell, and Lafayette. Their most recent, victory was over Lafayette on Jan. 5 when the Terriers won 66-48.
- In the game against Lafayette, senior guard Sydney Johnson became the 25th Terrier in program history to notch 1,000 career points. This season, Johnson leads BU in rebounds, averaging 11.2 per game and has tallied the most points so far (155).
- Junior forward Caitlin Weimar leads the Terriers with an average of 14.6 ppg so far this season. She rained in 23 against Lafayette, going 10-19 from the field while also pulling down 12 rebounds.
- Other key players in the win against Lafayette were senior Maren Durant who snagged 13 rebounds, eight assists, and four blocks, and sophomore Alex Giannaros and senior Maggie Pina who posted 11 and 10 points, respectively.
- Boston U has three players that are averaging double-digit points per game this season, Weimar (14.6), Johnson (11.9), and Giannaros (10.9) and are shooting .421 percent from the field and .404 percent from distance which puts them second in the league in offensive numbers.
- The Terriers are also first in the league in combined team rebounds (40.4 per game) and in defensive rebounding (29.5 per game).
