WASHINGTON – After opening the 2022 season with a weekend road trip to Michigan, the #21 American University field hockey program is returning home to Jacobs Complex for its home openers. The #21 Eagles (1-1) are set to host #17 Delaware (1-1) on Friday, September 2 at 1 p.m. and #19 Old Dominion (1-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

- Fans are encouraged to arrive early both Friday and Sunday, as prior to Friday's game AU will be honoring the 2021 Patriot League Championship team and on Sunday the Eagles willl honor and thank former field hockey coach Barb Reimann.
- Friday's pregame ceremony will include the unveiling of the 2021 Patriot League Championship banner. The graduated senior members of last season's team will be on hand to participate in the events.
- Prior to the start of Sunday's game, the Eagles will honor and thank former coach/administrator and AU Athletics Hall of Famer Barb Reimann for her incredibly generous donation of new team benches for the Jacobs Complex.

- American will enter the match ranked No. 21 in the nation and having finished last season as Patriot League champions. They're also hot off a 4-0 win against Central Michigan on Sunday.
- Senior Charllene Boshoff and junior Bryn Underwood were voted to the Patriot League preseason all-league team with Underwood receiving the nod for Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
- Sophomore Federica Turina Dellamaggiore scored a hat trick, the first of her career, against Central Michigan.
- Turina Dellamaggiore and Underwood were both selected as Offensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, by the Patriot League after their efforts in the opening weekend of the season.
- Freshmen Lotta Curanz, Agustina Roffo, Frederiek Thierry, and Annie Shaw all made their collegiate debuts on Friday evening against Michigan State, with Curanz, Roffo, and Thierry all getting starting nods.
- Curanz scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday against CMU.

- Delaware enters Friday's matchup ranked No. 17 in the nation and having finished the 2021 season with their third straight Colonial Athletic Associate championship title.
- Freshman Lia Becker scored her first collegiate goal with Delaware this past Sunday in the Blue Hens' loss to Virginia.
- Graduate student goalie Lizzie Gaebel was a member of the 2021 CAA All-Tournament team and already has a five-save shutout under her belt against VCU this season.
- The reigning CAA Defensive Player of the Year and Tournament Most Outstanding Player Julia Duffhuis was voted the Preseason Player of the Year.
- The Blue Hens had three other athletes, in addition to Duffhuis, who were honored to the CAA Preseason All-Tournament Team.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OLD DOMINION
- Old Dominion will enter Sunday's match ranked No. 19 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- The Monarchs fell in their season opener 3-2 to William & Mary, in which senior Delphine Le Jeune scored both goals.
- Junior Marlon de Bruijne scored a brace against Boston College this week while Frederique Zandbergen scored as well to lift the team 3-2 over the BC Eagles.
- Graduate student goalkeeper Cam MacGillivray was selected by the Big East as the Defensive Player of the Week after making 11 saves against Boston College.
- The Monarchs are facing off against James Madison University on Friday in their own home opener.
