SERIES HISTORY

  • The Eagles' lone win over the Mids was in Washington during the Patriot League Tournament - one-seed AU toppled #4 Navy, 17-15, to advance into the Championship where they lost to Colgate, 13-8.
  • American is 0-8 in Annapolis, including the 16-10 loss earlier this season.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

  • American overcame a four-goal first-half deficit to overpower Boston University, 16-12, on Friday.
  • The Eagles closed the regular-season with an overall record of 9-8, tying the program record for regular-season wins, and earned their first Patriot League Tournament berth since 2013.
  • The Eagles were paced by a nine-goal performance from fifth-year Emma Vinall, tying her career-high and single-game program record. She also added a pair of assists for 11 points on the day to reset her career-high.
  • Freshman Becca Frank added her fourth hat trick of the season while classmate Maddy Spratt also added three points with a goal and two assists.
  • Vinall leads the overall offensive effort with 65 points on the season off 53 goals and 12 assists.
  • Senior Stefanie Walsh is next with 56 points in her breakout season, earning career-highs across the board with 38 goals, 18 assists, and a team-high 24 caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Mary Alice Collins continues to lead the team from goal - she had 10 saves against the Terriers and goes into the postseason with 137 overall for a .446 save percentage and 12.94 goals against average.

SCOUTING THE MIDS

  • Navy enters the postseason as the three-seed in the Patriot League Tournament after dropping the last two games of the regular season to Army West Point, 14-9, and #8 Loyola Maryland, 13-15.
  • The Mids took an early 5-3 lead but were held scoreless by the Greyhounds for the final three quarters. Despite the closing 10-0 run by Loyola, Navy held them to their lowest offensive output of the conference slate.
  • Reagan Roelofs scored four of the Mids' five goals on Thursday while Leelee Denton added the other.
  • Kasey Dietzel pitched in two assists followed by one each from Lindsay Beardmore and Charlotte Ryan.
  • Jo Torres played all 60 minutes in goal for Navy and had eight saves on the day.
  • Those back-to-back losses ended what had been a six-game win streak for the Mids. They also notched a pair of top-20 wins during the nonconference season over #15 Drexel, 13-6, and #16 Johns Hopkins, 13-12 (OT).
  • Roelofs leads Navy's scoring efforts with 41 goals followd by Gil Eby with 31 and Denton with 30.
  • Dietzel and Beardmore lead the team with 15 assists each.
  • Roelofs also leads in the draw circle with 99 draw controls so far this season while Christine Fiore and Alexis Bell have paced the Mids' defensive efforts with 38 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers, respectively.

HISTORIC SEASON

  • In only her second year at the helm, head coach Lindsay Teeters has led the Eagles to one of their most successful seasons on record, tying with the 2002 and 2003 teams with a program-record nine-win regular season.
  • In fact, that 2003 squad is the programs first and only Patriot League Championship team.
  • The Eagles' four Patriot League wins are the most since 2013, which was also the last time AU earned a berth into the Patriot League Tournament.
  •  All this was clinched with the final regular-season game of the season against Teeters' alma mater, Boston University.
