ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Two fifth-place finishes and a seventh-place finish were the highlights for American University wrestling at the 44th Annual Navy Classic. Sophomore Maximilian Leete (125 pounds) and redshirt junior Will Jarrell (HWT) both went 4-1 to take fifth in their respective weight classes, while freshman Caleb Campos took seventh at 165 pounds after going 3-2.

Notable

• Leete was on the wrong end of an opening match that went to sudden victory, but he rebounded with four wins in a row to close out the day. He pinned Lock Haven's Matt Maloney in the second consolation round of eight, and earned two wins by decision over The Citadel's Malik Hardy (1-0) and Ohio's Oscar Sanchez (6-4) in the fifth-place match. 
• Campos recovered from an opening-round loss to earn back-to-back major decision victories over opponents from Michigan State and Nebraska. He lost in the consolation round of four, but beat Bucknell's Chase Barlow 7-4 to earn seventh place overall.
• At heavyweight, Jarrell suffered his only loss in the quarterfinals against Navy. He then earned three straight wins in the consolation bracket over opponents from Bucknell, Navy and Kent State to take fifth place. 
• The wins for Jarrell included a major decision against Bucknell's Dorian Crosby and a pin of Navy's Jamier Ferere.
• Grad student Colin Shannon went 2-2 at 184 pounds, earning an 11-1 major decision win over Michigan State's Kael Wisler in the consolation bracket.
