FAIRFAX, Va. - On the final day of the Patriot Invitational, the American University men's and women's swimming & diving teams posted 13 new times that rank among the top 16 personal-bests in program history, and two relay times that also make the top 16 lists. The Eagles got top-five finishes from juniors Maddie Mara and Mimi Watts.

NOTABLE

• Watts placed third overall in the 200 fly in 2:01.84, and anchored the women's 400 free relay team that also included sophomore Marissa Kleckner, freshman Avery Barber and senior Gabi Suarez. The group finished in 3:31.11 which ranks 13th-best all-time.
• The men's 400 free relay of junior Caleb Farris, freshman Colin Clough, junior Will Deitch and junior Nick Buckley posted a time of 3:06.12 which ranks ninth all-time.
• Buckley dropped his 100 free time over a second from prelims to finals, taking ninth overall with a PR of 45.33 that ranks third all-time. 
• Mara dropped a strong prelims time even more in the finals of the 200 breaststroke, placing fifth in 2:21.55 which also ranks as the fifth-fastest PR in program history.
• Two others also made the list in the women's 200 breaststroke, with freshman Grace Netz placing 11th in 2:23.11 (eighth all-time) and senior Kenzie Cresci placing 14th in 2:25.03 which is a PR and ranks 14th all-time.
• Three women made the top 16 list in the 200 backstroke as well, led by freshman Sophia Hemingway with a time of 2:03.63 that placed her 11th at the meet and is the sixth-fastest PR at AU. Behind her was sophomore Amaya Tomma in 2:04.40 which ranks 10th all-time, and junior Sasha Uspenskaya in 2:05.40 which ranks 14th all-time.
• The women's distance freestylers had an impressive showing, with senior Kayla Winters taking eighth in the 1,650 free in 17:38.66 and sophomore Tyler DiMarco placing 15th in 17:53.54. Winters now ranks 11th all-time in the 1,650 and also 11th in the 1,000 with her split of 10:37.25. DiMarco's 1,650 time places her 16th on that list and her 1,000 split of 10:44.94 is also 16th.
• Freshman Veronica Lester swam the 200 fly alongside Watts, and took 15th in 2:07.99 which is a PR that ranks 12th all-time.
• Freshman Nate Coleman recorded the 14th-fastest PR of 1:52.54 in the 200 backstroke.
• Overall, the Eagles placed fifth of seven teams on the women's side, and fifth of six teams on the men's side.

• The full team will not be back in action competitively until heading to Colgate on January 14. Juniors Nick Buckley and Mimi Watts are set to compete at the Toyota US Open Championships from Nov. 30-Dec. 3 in Greensboro, N.C.
