WASHINGTON - Freshman Oscar Counsell of men's indoor track was named the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of January 24-30 after an impressive performance at the George Mason Patriot Games.

Counsell highlighted the day's results for the American as he notched his second career individual event win. He led the field in the men's mile with a final time of 4:16.35, shaving exactly seven seconds off his previous best from the VMI Team Challenge two weeks prior. He was one of six performers for AU to leave Saturday's meet with a new personal best.

Next up for track is the VMI Winter Classic on Feb. 11-12.
