WASHINGTON - Freshman Oscar Counsell highlighted the day's results for the American University track team as he notched his second career individual event win at the George Mason Patriot Games on Saturday.

• Counsell led the field in the men's mile with a final time of 4:16.35, shaving exactly seven seconds off his previous best from the VMI Team Challenge two weeks ago. He was one of six performers for AU to leave Saturday's meet with a new personal best.
• Junior Tucker Zullo was ninth in the mile followed by freshman Alex Murphy who also picked up a new PR for 12th in the field.
• Senior Elise Hooker just missed on a new program all-time top-10 mark in the 1000m run with her PR of 3:03.55 for seventh overall.
• The Eagles had seven more top-10 finishers in their respective fields, starting with junior Malcolm Going who was second in his section, sixth overall, in the 500m dash (1:08.97).
• The men's 4x400m and distance medley relays also picked up sixth-place finishes. The DMR narrowly missed a new all-time top-10 spot with their 3:35.75 finish.
• On the women's side, junior Kelsey Miskimins took 10th in the women's 800m with a new PR time, followed by sophomore Cassandra Daniele who also shaved time off her personal best for 16th overall.

HEAR FROM COACH GRAHAM...
"I am much happier with the way we competed today. I think we're about 3/4 of the way there at the halfway point of the indoor season, which is a better place to be. The vast majority of us were aggressive today and raced well. On the men's side, Oscar Counsell was the performer of the day, winning the mile in a nice PR of 4:16 and an impressive negative split going 2:12 in the first half and 2:04 in the second. Malcolm Going also had a strong day in numerous events, primarily the 500m where his second-place finish in his section was a big step forward for him. 

"For the women, Elise Hooker picked up a PR in the 1000m and raced very aggressively. Kylie Raymond had a big step forward with a very solid 3000m race, and Kirah Tianga performed well, winning her heat of the 500 handedly. We have about a month until the Patriot League Indoor Championships and there is more work to be done to be ready to roll that day, but I am very encouraged by what we got done today. Teams will be back at it with practice tomorrow morning!"
