2020-21 Women's Soccer Season Review

A new coaching staff brought new energy to the American women’s soccer program in the spring 2021 season. Marsha Harper (head coach) and Katie Greenberg (assistant coach) coached in their first games at American University.

Despite a disappointing record (0-4-1), the Eagles showed promise down the stretch and earned a 1-1 draw against eventual Patriot League champion Navy in the final game of regular season. Olivia Mahony was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week after scoring the equalizer against the Mids on April 9.

Tori Kent, the Team MVP, was named Academic All-Patriot League for the first time. She led all field players in minutes played this season (443) and provided leadership as a team captain. For her efforts, she was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the second time in her career. She is just the second AU women's soccer player to receive the honor twice.

The Eagles graduated six seniors and all but one (Asia Horne) are moving on from AU. Horne will return for a fifth season and begin a master's program in psychology. A solid core will return for the fall season and be joined by a nine-person freshman class. The Eagles will look to keep building the program's culture in season two for Marsha Harper.
