Women's Soccer Hosts Lehigh on Saturday; Postgame Clinic and Autographs to Follow

WASHINGTON – The week concludes with another home Patriot League match for American University women's soccer, as the Eagles welcome Lehigh for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 4. Following the contest, American is hosting a free postgame clinic for youths in eighth grade and younger, as well as an autograph session. Fans should note that the main entrance to Reeves Field is now open in front of the Meltzer Center construction.

Parking on Campus

How to Get to Reeves Field
  • The main entrance to Reeves Field, down the hill from Bender Arena, is now open in front of the Meltzer Center construction.
What to Know About American
  • Four one-goal losses are included in the Eagles 1-7-3 record so far as AU look for more breakout performances offensively. The Eagles are three games removed from their first win of the year, a thrilling 2-1 defeat of Army at home on Sept. 20.
  • Recent goal-scorers for American include senior Avery Klingensmith at Lafayette, senior Phoebe Merrigan vs. Army, and junior Bella Vozar with the last-minute game-winner vs. Army.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Addison Roemer made a career-high 12 saves in the win over Army, just one game after her previous career high of 10 saves in AU's 0-0 draw at George Mason. 
  • Five different players have scored for AU so far, led by two goals each from Klingensmith, grad student Jennifer McGuire, and sophomore Nariah Goldman.
  • The Eagles earned three of five weekly honors from the Patriot League after the Army win, as Vozar, Merrigan, and McGuire were all recognized.
  • Defenders Eliza Fisher (senior) and Natalia Croce (freshman) have both played every minute of all 11 games so far for AU.
What to Know About Lehigh
  • Lehigh is looking for its first Patriot League win after starting off 0-2-1 so far, most recently earning a 2-2 draw at Navy.
  • The Mountain Hawks lost 2-0 at home to Bucknell in their league opener, and then dropped a 4-0 decision to Army. 
  • Freshman forward Savannah Conner and graduate student forward Faith Dobosiewicz lead Lehigh with two goals each, while junior forward Aminah Baruwa is the team leader in points with one goal and three assists.
  • Last year, the Mountain Hawks went 3-9-5 overall and 2-6-1 in Patriot League action. The Eagles earned a 2-0 win at Lehigh with goals from Bella Miller and Brooke Steel.
  • Lehigh's keepers rank fourth in the PL with 4.80 saves per game, but the Mountain Hawks are last in goals allowed at 2.10 per game.
  • Head coach Lauren Calabrese is in her fourth year with the program after serving as an assistant coach for six years.
