WASHINGTON - The American University cross country teams took to the course one last time in 2021 on Friday with the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.

• Juniors Emily Neuner and Russell Sullivan ended the season as they opened it, with top finishes for the women's and men's teams, respectively.
• First up for the day was the women's 6k where Neuner took the reins for the third time this season with a 157th-place finish overall, followed by classmate Rachael Potter, senior Clare Hernandez, and sophomore June Mwaniki.
• The men's team bumped up from the usual 8,000-meter race to the 10k - a distance reserved for the NCAA Regional and National Championship meets. Sullivan paced the men's team in 32:12.50 for 54th overall, shaving time off their previous personal record from freshman year.
• A pair of freshmen were next across the line as Michael Dua and Oscar Counsell made their 10k debuts in 33:32.60 and 33:35.0, respectively. 
• Junior Nathan Reeves and sophomore Ethan Puc closed out the day's scoring for AU while freshman Alex Murphy was the sixth Eagle across the line. Both Puc and Murphy also made their career 10k debuts.
