WASHINGTON – After scoring a career-best eight points in the Eagles' home opener on Saturday, American University senior midfielder Olivia Mangan has been tabbed the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week.
Mangan was also selected as the Corvias Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Midfielder of the Week, earning the first PL weekly honor of her career.
Mangan, a native of Maplewood, N.J., registered three goals, a career-high five assists, a ground ball, two draw controls and five caused turnovers to lead American to a 15-12 victory over Saint Joseph's in its home opener.
Mangan's five assists are the most in a single-game in AU history, while her eight points are tied for the most in a single game in program history. Additionally, her eight points are tied for the most in a single game in the Patriot League this season.
Earlier in the week, Mangan helped lead the Eagles in a 16-10 loss to 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins, recording two goals, an assist, two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 24, when they visit UMBC in a non-conference contest.
