CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Seniors Dale Ludwig and Panos Nakhid earned major Patriot League Postseason awards, as announced by the league office on Monday. Ludwig was named the PL Midfielder of the Year while Nakhid took home the Offensive Player of the Year.
American placed five players on the All-PL Team with senior Michael Cherry joining Ludwig and Nakhid on the first team. Senior Jake Garcia was chosen to the second team and classmate Lucas Belanger on the third team.
Ludwig finished with five goals and an assist on the season. He added two goals in the regular season finale against Lehigh on Saturday, both coming off headers on services. Ludwig has 47 career points and is one goal shy of tying his career-best of six which was set last season.
Nakhid has come on in the latter part of the season with five points in his last three games. He has two goals and eight assists for 12 points. Nakhid set a new career-best in points this season.
The backline duo of Cherry and Garcia have played hard-nosed defense shutting down the opposition's top threat. Garcia has scored a pair of goals.
Belanger set career highs in most statistical categories this year. He has a 1.16 goals against average and six shutouts (all in PL play).
American will host this weekend's Patriot League Semifinals and Final on Friday and Sunday, respectively. AU's opponent has yet to be determined. The two quarterfinal matches will be played on Tuesday with the Eagles playing the lowest remaining seed and Loyola (Md.) playing the highest remaining seed.
