The American University volleyball team makes a trip to the Aloha State for the Hawaiian Airline Wahine Volleyball Classic, hosted by Hawaii, Sept. 4-6.

The Eagles face No. 25 UCLA on Friday at 4:30 p.m. (HT), before taking on the 17th-ranked host Rainbow Wahine on Saturday at 7 p.m. American concludes the weekend with a match versus Iowa Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

American enters this weekend's tournament with a 3-1 overall record following its loss to No. 4 Florida on Sunday. Led by a standout effort from senior Sarah Katz, the Eagles fell to the Gators in four sets. American won the opening set, 26-24, before losing its next three sets (20-25, 15-25, 23-25).

Katz hit a match-high .467 with 15 kills and just one error on 30 attempts. Also registering double-digit kills for the Eagles was senior Allison Cappellino, who recorded 15 kills and nine digs. Meanwhile, senior setter Monika Smidova finished with 37 assists and a season-high 18 digs.

For the season, Katz leads the Eagles with 2.91 kills per set, while classmates Allison Cappellino and Kristyna Lindovska add 2.86 and 2.57 kills per set, respectively. Sophomore libero Hoakalei Dawson is averaging 4.14 digs per set, while Smidova averages 9.07 assists and 3.36 digs per set.

UCLA, ranked 25th in the latest AVCA coaches poll, enter this weekend's tournament with a 1-1 overall record. After defeating Virginia, 3-0, in their season opener, the Bruins fell to Loyola Marymount in straight sets.

Jordan Anderson leads UCLA with 4.33 kills per set, while Reilly Buechler adds 3.5 kills and 1.5 blocks per set. Ryann Chandler is the primary setter for the Bruins, averaging 10.83 assists per set, while Taylor Formico leads the team with 3.17 digs per set.

Hawaii, ranked 17th in the latest AVCA coaches poll, enters the weekend with a 3-0 overall record after sweeping the competition at the season-opening Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The 'Bows, led by tournament MVP Nikki Taylor, defeated Idaho, Wichita State and Oregon State en route to the title.

Taylor leads UH with 5.2 kills and 1.5 blocks per set, while Olivia Magill adds 3.4 kills per set and a team-best .415 attack percentage. Additionally, Tayler Higgins leads the Rainbow Wahine in both assists (11.5) and digs (3.2) per set.

Iowa enters this weekend with a 2-1 ledger after competing at the Northern Illinois Invitational last weekend. The Hawkeyes defeated South Dakota State (3-0) and Pacific (3-2), while falling to the host Huskies (3-1).

Lauren Brobst leads Iowa with 4.25 kills and 0.83 blocks per set, while Jess Janota and Mikaela Gunderson add 3.0 and 2.42 kills per set, respectively. Loxley Keala averages 11.17 assists per set and Annika Olsen leads the Hawkeyes with 4.08 digs per set.
