HARRISONBURG, Va. – The American University women's basketball team continued its winless streak, dropping a 74-45 decision to James Madison on Saturday evening.

Senior Michelle Holmes was the lone player to score in double figures for the Eagles, finishing with 12 points and a team-leading six rebounds.

Meanwhile, four players scored in double figures for JMU, led by Angela Mickens with 20 points.

JMU (5-1) converted 8-of-10 free throws in the opening period to take a 15-8 lead after 10 minutes of action. Led by 12 second-period points from Mickens, the Dukes pushed their advantage to double digits, heading into the intermission with a 35-20 advantage.

Although freshman Kaitlyn Lewis knocked down a three-pointer to open the third period, the Eagles (0-8) were never closer than 12 points in the second half, as the Dukes used an 18-2 third-period run to pull away.

For the first time this season, American attempted more free throws than its opponent, but was unable to capitalize, connecting on just 13-of-25 foul shots. The Eagles also gave up a slight 34-32 advantage on the boards and committed 24 turnovers in the game.
