GAME NOTES
The American University women's basketball team wraps up its non-conference slate on Tuesday, Dec. 22, when it visits Pittsburgh in a 2 p.m. contest.
American, which has won two straight contests, enters Tuesday's game with a 2-8 record on the season. The Eagles are coming off a 52-48 victory over Manhattan on Sunday evening.
AU sank 27-of-34 foul shots against the Jaspers, but scored just 12 field goals. However, the Eagles were able to hold Manhattan to just 28.1 percent shooting from the field. Junior Lauren Crisler registered 12 points and a career-high nine rebounds to lead the Eagles, while senior Michelle Holmes added nine points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds. Amani Tatum scored a game-high 18 points to lead Manhattan.
For the season, Holmes leads the team with 10.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while Crisler adds 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. Meanwhile, freshman Kaitlyn Lewis was selected as the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week after leading the Eagles with 10.5 points per contest in their last two games.
Pittsburgh carries a 7-4 overall record into this week's contest after rolling to a 75-44 victory over Rider on Sunday afternoon. Four different players scored in double figures for the Panthers, led by sophomore Yacine Diop and freshman Kalista Walters with 16 points each.
For the season, Walters averages a team-leading 12.4 points per game, while Diop adds 10.9 points per game. Meanwhile, freshman Brenna Wise averages 8.8 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per contest.
