Pope, Women's 4x800 Relay Post Top Results on Day One of Patriot League Championships

John Pope earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors and the women's 4x800 meter relay team shattered the program record to lead the American University men's and women's track teams during day one of the 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championships on Friday in Annapolis, Md.

Pope finished second in the men's 10,000 meter race with a mark of 31:35.38, placing in the top-five of the event for the second consecutive year. Tom Woermer placed eighth overall in the event, finishing in 32:48.96.

The women's 4x800 relay team of Kelseagh BudrisCorina Velazco, Ali Tyburski and Julia Sullivan set a new program record and achieved an ECAC qualifying time for the second consecutive week with their third place result in 9:00.41. Krystal Foster posted a time of 38:24.63 to place eighth in the 10,000 meter run.

Action resumes tomorrow at Navy beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase.
