With two days complete of the four-day Swimming & Diving Patriot League Championships in Annapolis, Md., both the American University men's and women's teams stand in eighth place.
The men have accrued 69 team points, nine back of Lafayette for seventh. The women also have an identical team point total, 30 back of Loyola which stands in seventh.
Senior Bobby Ballance had one AU's top performance's on day two, swimming to a 16th place finish in the 200 individual medley, winning a swim-off to advance to the B-Final. Ballance completed the race in 1:54.90.
Ballance also competed on finals night with classmate Matt Wurm and juniors Phil Piombino and Dylan Hall in the 200 free relay, finishing eighth overall, holding off Holy Cross on the final lap; finishing with a time of 1:26.02 – more than two seconds faster than their seed time.
The AU women also improved heavily on their seed time in the 200 free relay, shaving nearly four seconds off, finishing in 1:37-flat. The team of sophomore Paris Wood and the rookie trio of Caylee Watson, Julianna Cavano and Alyssa Colasurdo placed ninth.
